Fortunately he is OK but it is strange how rare pro athletes get hurt
in car wrecks.

yeah, they had to cut his car up with the jaws of life to get him out.
but it's no different than getting sacked.

an asshole ran a red light on Comm Ave, all NYers who've gone to school in
Boston know Comm Ave and understand that happens along it..

I read that the jaws of life had to be used on the other car, not his.

It's something to do with being in great shape. I really believe that. Way
back in 1966 when I got out of college, just finished playing ball, the
first thing I did was buy a new Mustang. Not a week after I had it a guy
was speeding up onto a light in the opposite direction from me...he lost
control and crossed a small median divder and hit me head on at about 50
MPH....my car was completely totaled, the console went out the back window.
I had a lot of bruises and was dazed, but that was it. I did have a seat
belt on. At the time the doctors told me the fact I was in great physical
shape had a lot to do with my not having broken bones. I was very lucky,
and I'm glad Tom Brady was too. Papa Carl

I have similar one except I hit a train and played a match the next
day. Funny part was the train never blew its whistle was going 70 mph
+-- no crossing lights--, almost killed me, & the cop wrote me a
ticket for "Failure to Yield To Train."

True story.

So did CSX send you a bill? I'd expect that. I'm glad you were not in the
middle of it all.

Southern Pacific & that is funny you asked.

Insurance covered the car but it was a year old so I took a haircut
and my insurance went up. I asked a plaintiffs lawyer who was a team
mate with about the possibility of getting money out of a RR. His
reply was you would have better luck suing the federal govt.

I went down with my list of witnesses, my insurance bill and the money
I lost on the car to visit the RR's attorney. He started telling me
how he had witnesses and I told him we both know that is BS. He asked
what I wanted. I gave him the number for 5 years cost of increased
insurance and $ I lost on the car. He handed me a release & paid it.

Mine was a guy crossing a median and hitting me, head on. He even clipped
the back of the car in front of me. The guy died instantly. But.....the
girl driving the car in front of me was the girlfriend of the local police
lt. He actually came to the accident scene. She somehow got written out of
the accident report altogether...why I will never know. And I got charged
with a serious charge, when it went to court the judge threw it out
instantly....it gave me tons of grief for a long time. Then out of the blue
I get a knock on the door one night and it is a lawyer from the insurance
company of the guy who hit me, and caused the entire pileup...they were
offering me money to not sue them. Years later, a state police officer who
had gotten involved in the investigation called me to tell me the local
police Lt. involved in the original investigation had been arrested, and
that accident was one of the things he did wrong....his girlfriend did not
have a valid drivers license...he covered her involvement up, and tried to
make me the scape goat. This entire accident happened on MY side of the
road...this guy was going the other direction and hit me and had to cross
two lanes of traffic to do it. That was a very long time ago...and it was
the beginning of my somewhat jaded look at some law enforcement. As for the
"other" insurance company, they just wanted me to go away....I told them I
didn't want anything and they could just forget about me, I was alive and
that was all that mattered.
