I heard on the sports radio that Taylor suffered a concussion vs the
Pats but has already been cleared to play for this Sunday. Does this
sound right?
Wayne was on the Boomer and Carton show this morning via telephone for
a couple of minutes and he sounded well. As always hes rooting for the
Jets. I hope he eventually gets better.
What's really scary is the way it used to be...damn...it was wave the amonia
capsules and get the guy back in the game. You had to be totally out of it
to not go back. I was told I started getting into the wrong huddle once,
got taken to the sideline but got back later on....I hope he is OK...they
need him and he needs his brain.

It isn't math. Papa would be a good judge but I would love to know
the # of concussions in that game. I remember when Chrebet came back
for another year after getting a nasty concussion and I thought why is
he doing that. Sure enough he came back and had worse one the next
year. He is still dealing with it. This is the last I saw about him:
What a great receiver.

I think the number of concussions has risen tremendously in the modern game,
just because of the speed, size and hitting power. Helmets have improved,
but not at the same rate as the power of the hits etc. A lot of it has to
do with how the individual responds outwardly. If they do brain scans today
I'm not sure what that will tell them, and I don't even know if that is what
they do to clear a guy. But I do know some guys seem to be really hit on
one day and fine the next, and back to practice really soon showing no after
effects...but from a lot of what I've read from those who are claiming this
is more dangerous than some claim, that may not be a real indicator. After
my son's senior year in college, he had some opportunities to continue to
play..but honestly when he didn't a big part of me felt happy about it..he
had too many of those hits and concussions in college as far as I could
tell...and at least one of them that was not really detected, but was
obvious after the game when he was still dazed....I don't know what the
answer is....how do they clear guys?
