> 1050 reports Leon has signed with the jets
Two bad for Leon, it is about a year too late.

I am not familiar with the rules. Now that Leon has signed the
tender, he can be traded, right? Id rather keep Leon than get a 4th
or even a 3rd round pick. His potential value exceeds anything they
might draft in rounds 3 and later.
I have to say, I like the way the Jets handled this situation so far.
In the past when a player got whiny they rewarded bad behavior. None
of that here.
depends who is on the board at what position when they are offered
anything for Leon. If they are offered anything.

You might be right, but financials even things out a little bit.
Drafting a guy in the mid rounds basically gets you a guy for 4 years at
"minimum wage", whereas they have Leon for a heftier price tag for 1
yr, 2 if they franchise him.
But, given what Marshall was traded for, I think the Jets have to at
least ask for a 2nd round pick in exchange for Leon. Even then, given
their other "win now" moves, I think they probably wouldn't do it.
No kidding, would have put $10 MM guaranteed in his contact & starting
his 2nd year of a contract that would make him a FA again at 29-30 years
old. Now, he might be a FA when? If the strike hits and he misses a
year or blows out a knee.
I can understand the comfort of dealing with a young AA. Why not add
competent to that?
Ask yes. And, regardless of its location, any second round pick in this
draft and with us absent a 3rd rounder makes that a good trade.
But, I would settle for a third if someone who might start during the
year at a position of need: DL, OL or S is available when a team offers
us a trade.
