Michael,
Ever hear the expression, it takes two to tango. Even the obnoxious
"...the vikes handed them the game..." requires the other team to accept
it. And, the Fish who rushed the passer and the secondary who made picks
and they guy who recovered the fumble all had to be in position and then
make plays.
I think the experts are not as sure as you that the Jets will play as
well on the road as they have at home and they think the Fish will play
better at home than on the road.
Those are the logical reasons. The other reasons center around mediaots
who don't like the Jets and want to write stories about how they stank
after all that talk, think Sanchez is front runner, who think the Jets
unlike other teams should punish their DUI, etc. File that impetus under
wish fulfillment.
The truth is that each game is determined by a number of factors:
mistakes, officials calling (or not calling) key penalties on dubious
calls, in game or half time adjustments, the ability of Coordinators to
develop a game plan on the things the opponent cannot change by scheme
(i.e., a game plan based on physical weaknesses and tendencies rather
than responding to a scheme that the opposing Coordinator may not use
having seen its weaknesses) etc.
If Rex is the HC that I want him to be, and Shott is not the moron I
fear he is, I expect the Jets to blow out the Dolphins so that
regardless what happens in this game, the Jets win comfortably. The good
news, is that we have had three must-win games in three games. If we
win, we are set up for a bunch more.
The bad news is that if the Fish take the Jets to whipping post, we
won't have to worry about more games. Because this team is built to be
playing in the new year at home, in the cold and weather. And stupid
losses will either keep us out of the playoffs or playing on the road.
h
this will be interesting to watch play out. they have it all
available right now... sucess or failure...
Yup!!!
What is amazing is how many Jet fans don't realize that for the first
time since Parcells, our team actually gets to make that choice.
For too many years, the choice was how badly they would lose and how
long they would prolong the agony.
Just like Parcells gave them the chance to be winners after all those
SOJ years and the only previous choice I remember was when Shula took it
away by disregarding the league rules and getting away with it scott
free, Rex and Tanny have clearly assembled a unit that gets to decide
tonight if they are losers or winners.

I get a great laugh every time one of you guys brings up 1982. Keep up
the good work.
I don't disagree there at all...they do have the ability to do it. I also
think Schott has to do his part, and Rex has to call the right game....but
for the first time in a long time, they have the players to get it
done...and for the first time in a long time I'm more than eagerly looking
forward to seeing a game.
If I were a Fish fan, so would I. Stole a game and got away with it.
The only fair thing about it was that had Freeman been allowed to run
wild, Richard Todd may have been among the legion of SB winning Qbs.
And, even I can admit that would not be fair.

One more thing, the Dolphins beat the jets 3 times that year. What are
the excuses for the other 2?
