Today's NFL is great because of the salary cap and competitiveness it
affords each team. But it sucks for blood pressure yesterday be you a
Jets, Pats, etc. favored team's fan yesterday.

Defense:

- This is twice in the past 4 games (going back to the AFC
Championship) our defense has been flattened by an opposing rushing
attack. It pains me to say it, but until proven otherwise we are a
finesse defense aka soft against the run.

We've yet to adequately replace Kris Jenkins. And we are in some ways
a DB-led defense - and sometimes that can be a defense that can be run
on.

Additionally we're a defense that relies on pre-snap communication and
when an opposing offense like the Raiders or Dallas runs a hurry-up it
can short circuit our D.

- We've been victmized 2/3 of games on outside running (tho to be sure
yesterday we were victimized inside, outside and everywhere in
between).

Offense:

Remains below average. How do you put up 17 points in 1 2/3 quarters
and manage only 7 more from then on.

Troubling. At least the play calling and execution was mostly
excellent in the first half.

- On to Baltimore. As always some folks are panicking. For me it's
payback time, and there's nothing better in sports.

Okay JL, ...a glass half-full beats one half-empty so I am told. So hold
those positive thoughts but do realize that the QB named Joe plays for
B'more this time around ; )

Tough loss Sunday. Obviously the Raiders are for real in 2011, as are many
of the former cellar dwellars.
