revis has been quiet since the beginning. no comments, no twitter
bs. obviously, he is being classy as class does. his agent talked
shit, the jets talked shit... the only guy on the high road has been
revis. just a wild guess on my part, but i'd bet it was revis himself
that insisted that the circus leave town.

i think the revis camp feels the closer they get to the regular
season, the more motivated the jets will be to pay him off... but
yeah... the jets hold all the cards... revis plays or sits for three
years... no other choices. i also agree tanny will give him the face
saving offer at the last minute... the way i see it, neither is really
in a corner... the jets know he has to play and so does revis... revis
and agent know they are not in a corner... no matter how pissy they
get with the jets, they know the jets wont tell revis to stay home...
he'll play and he'll make more for all his hold out bs... the big
question is.... will revis sit out until game 7 ???

not so sure it was a fake injury... from what he said, he was having a
problem... because he is not being paid as he would like to be, he did
not feel the need to suck it up. he'd have rested if he was so much
as having a bad hair day...
as far as the cba and all that good stuff... i agree with mz.. they
need some sort of a cap on the guaranteed money

Ultimately it all goes back to the thread about the "bonding"....if a
special player is going to become even more in terms of becoming the glue
that makes the team or his unit work...he needs to step up and go beyond
some of the business stuff and create the "team" and not the "me"....Revis
has an enormous opportunity to become that person, and he will still get
paid extremely well...on the other hand, he could act like some of the
owners of a team that has become perpetually horrendous and think they can
buy a season with one player and pay that guy off the charts, and he can
hold out, do no bonding, watch his team lose without him there, come in late
or not at all...and eventually be traded to some team that probably will not
contend....and then never come back to his full potential. He is at his
peak now...his very best in that position....if he gets really stupid and
sits out, he will lose a lot of his skills, OMHO. I agree about the way the
rules are set up, and what a scum bags he has representing him and whoever
gives him advice are taking care of themselves not Revis.

What can I say? Whenever Tannenbaub's name comes up the word that
most immediately comes to Grizelda's mind is SMARMY. Ever hear of a
"toxic relationship?" Well that's what's going on here. As far as
putting this team together, yeah, I have to begrudgingly give the guy
SOME props, but what he's done is to get some guys who other teams
couldn't get rid of fast enough (Edwards, Holmes, Cromartie and Poole)
and traded away some deadwood (Fanaca) and, at the time, a potential
PUP player (Leon). And, finally after three mediocre years, he now
has a top five (and certainly no better) LT in Brick. Mangold, at 29
was a blind man's no-brainer that same year. Sanchez, an expensive
1st rounder may only wind up to be the third best QB in the AFC East,
behind 6th and 2nd rounders. Kyle Wilson, who was really a second
choice at 29 this year (Odrick was 1st, no matter what Rex now says)
and even then it wasn't Tanny's pick, but Rex's. Shonn Green WAS a
slick pick up though as was getting Pace, but really, other than the
ones that I've just alluded to, what can you point to that HE has done
to really improve the team? And don't say REX. That was Woody all
the way, and along with him came Scott, Leonard and Douglas.
Tannenbaum just signed the checks.
AFAIC, his most valuable contribution has been the one he's made while
kneeling under Woody desk.

Burf, this all remains to be seen. He took the "mortgaging the future"
strategy -- buy proven talent now, don't stock the team with prospects.
This has worked in some sports. I don't think it will work in
football, but I may very well be wrong about this. All I know is that
the top three or four teams of the decade build through the draft, not
free agency.
I also think we're seeing ripple effects of his crappy handling of
holdouts in the past.

It doesn't really matter if Baker, Kendall, Coles, Moore, and whoever
else did better. What's important is that the Jets caved in all those
situations. That's all Revis will be looking at. Revis will,
obviously, think he's immune to post-renegotiation slump/injury/age.
