There are only two current players on the Jets that I wanna see go.
Gholston (he's had more than enough time to improve and has not. not
one little bit. he is not even a special teams stand out. he is a
waste of a roster spot. take the pain and free up a roster spot.)
Folk (his head is gone)

Clemons plus I think Taylor has said this was it. I would NOT get rid of
Eric Smith...he is a good underneath dime back and can hit, it's a question
of him being used in the right places. I would not get rid of McNight just
yet only based on his play against Buffalo and also because we have no idea
what is left in LT's tank now. Richardson will probably retire, Ellis will
most likely go.....they could be looking for a WHOLE lot of people.

league. I dont know what happened, but he was just so good for the

The Jets have always had this issue with kickers and punters it seems....IF
he can't kick in cold weather and at the end of a season...they don't need
him....I think they made a huge mistake with the kicking game this year,
OMHO. They really need a couple good young TE's....that would help the
whole scheme a lot, if they could get a guy who can block a little and catch
in the seam, they are golden, and can use Keller in tight slots etc, a trips
situation with a TE who can actually catch could really help them. I saw
one preseason game and did not think that much of Clemmons....I think they
need a better backup and there should be some around. Brunell has to be out
now I would think...how old is he?

What I'm really thinking now is this crap is all over...and I can now go and
just live...not have to involve myself with any more Jets drama and
disappointment :-) I'm too old to wait any longer, so I think I'll just
give it all up :-) I've got a lot of other stuff to do, and time is getting
more and more limited. We'll all come back to this next year I guess.

He's an outstanding NT (when healthy) and a good man but the team
needs a player that actually plays in a game now and then. The money
would be better spent an a replacement that doesn't have 2 creaky
knees.

I don't get how the Steelers run the same defense and their LB's are
always in the backfield distrupting or sacking the QB. The team
doesn't have speed at LB, and that is more than any other reason that
they got killed by Mendenhall. In the second half, the Steelers
continued to make every play they had to make to win. Harris is
superb, but he can't be the only guy, Jets desperately need rushers.
I think Peppers over Cromartie was the play last year and unless I'm
wrong, they have to give Chargers now a 2nd round pick for a one year
loaner. I would like to add Bart Scott to the list, way overrated.

The problem then is you still don't have a replacement when he goes
down yet again. Better to bite the bullet and find a replacement.

We need both Smiths. We are thin at safety right now & ESmith appears
to be Rex' choice over Pool.
I have no idea what Brad Smith will do. He is an idiot if he doesn't
take the best deal and best = most money. It can be close with a
chance of playing & getting paid again. Someone should buy him a jugs
machine.

My concern is that they end up paying him $1.8MM to rehab another knee
injury.You might as well free up the roster spot to look at
alternatives.

who can not play underneath the way Smith can. People expect safeties to be
great cover guys, and if they were...they'd be corners. Early on they kept

a bad player, when he was put in a position he can contribute in he did very

I came around on Smith as my early knock on him is he wouldn't tackle
not that he wouldn't try just that he coudln't finish it.
I have come around and I have to believe knowledge of this defense has
to have some value.
I think the big thing is they put him where he is comfortable playing....he
is good in the short game covering the seam I think, the inside underneath
game and run support.....you know, I can not get interested in this Super
Bowl...not in the least.

Nope....I can never take the side of The Steelers....Ben R. skated on some
serious crap and clearly demonstrated a pattern of behavior...he got away
with it because he was a QB, White, and a Steeler with the franchise /
family connections, OMHO.

But even when folks are counting (and lauding the number of) his
tackles, etc., the Smith I see makes tackles starting inside the ten
yard marker and most times they end up past it. He still makes the
unnecessary late hit. He is still late to too many plays (and I have a
hard time thinking that is his assignment). I have not seen him make a
big play like a Jason Taylor does more than once or a Calvin Pace.
Slow safeties make no sense to me.
And, I may be wrong.

the cops got snaked worse then any of them. ben still has an nfl
career and lots of money. the girl unquestionably got compen$ated.
unless she is totally traumatized by the incendent, it wont cost the
girls career or future. the two cops are out of their careers. what
does a former cop do ??? probably they wont even be able to get jobs
as security guards. they got fucked over badly for their portion.

john... i agree... if they had some idea that there was an assault
going on, not only should they be taken out of the uniform, they
should be convicted as accessories to sexual assault. as much of a
scum bag as big ben appears to be, i am not 100 % convinced that this
was really a criminal assault. more so, even if it was an assault,
the cops might not have known it... for all we know, they thought were
just "running blocher" so their celebrity client could get a blow job
in peace. for sure it was poor conduct, but i cant call them
accessories. i don't know much about how cops handle their matters,
but would they strip a guy of his badge if he was off duty and "ran
blocker" for a friend who wanted to get laid in a public bathroom ???
is such a conduct issue grounds for dismissal ???
