died today at 82.
at Foxboro when the Raiders were in town All would stand in the main
building behind the glass next to an enterence, he'd be getting flack from
the crowd and giving it right back.
he'd be laughing and pointing and giving fans the finger, he was great, he
understood it.
the league will miss his crazy.

He was instrumental in forming the AFL into a force that needed to be
reckoned with at the bargaining table.

He was a great coach, and a real political force in the NFL. People
made a lot of jokes about how he "lost it" (lost his football sense)
but this is oversimplifying how difficult it is to build a
championship team. He didn't lose his football sense. What does that
even mean anyway? Ridiculous. These statements are uttered by morons
whose most important job in life has been finding weed for the weekend.

Davis had lost it, it happens, he had his day and he made the most of it,
but at the end he was just a sad shell.
he should have retired but he wasn't that type.
he and Pete Rozelle really made the modern NFL what it is.
