Rookie LB Spikes in starting line up
Sssshhhh I won't be able to see it until it comes available on
torrents later. :)
How are you seeing it? I thought the NFL network feed was delayed?
i was listening on the radio... i can get RI radio station 630 WPRO RI
here in north NJ. Not bad at all for only 5 kilowats station. i
turned it off when the car balt game started
=================================================================================
The Pats are looking good. but it is the first pre-season game. all that
matters is no injuries.
how did brady look throwing ???
================================================
fine. they didn't try any bombs. just short and mid range stuff. nothing
fancy.
same with Brees.
the Pats were putting good pressure on Brees
It was the Edelman show anyway.
I thought he looked good...and so did everyone else.
i saw the game on the nfl network last night... as i expected the
rookie lb spikes lookd sharp... i expected the rookie cb mccourty to
look good as well, but he wound up badly out of position a few times.
not enought to go on yet... but not a good start for him...
You sure you weren't looking at Butler? I've only seen the first half
so far, but I can't recall McCourty being out of position. Butler, on
the other hand, made a big error and did a crappy job of run support.
Not much action on the outsides though. First team Saints squad
executed very poorly.
Re: Spikes. Dude was in the middle of it all, that's for sure. Looked
good blitzing. He overpursued big time though moving laterally. Easy
to fix. Sometimes rookies try to do too much themselves.
Best player on the defense from what I saw was Chung.
oh, yes... it was mccourty... he wound up behind a guy over the
middle and on the fly... and i knew.. KNEW spikes would blow the roof
off it. i cant belive he fell that low in the draft... other than
suh, he was the best defender up for sale... and i'll add for you
(IMHO) .. and yes... what the hell about chung... i was worried about
him... obviously, his instincts have improved and he was moving a lot
better than i would have guessed. also scarey... tate... fast, crisp,
classic... if he is what he was before the injury he's gonna make some
noise... i would say the only real weakness was the OLB's but they
were still generating good pressure. the jets better be watching all
this...
Belichick learned defense from Rex Ryan I think. The blitz was in FULL
force last night. And it worked. I expect Spikes and Mayo to combine
for double digit sacks this year. They may even have more than the OLBs.
BTW... The Pats just placed Ty Warren on IR. When the Jets play the
Pats, the game plan will be obvious. Attack the edges. The 3-4 DEs and
the OLBs are vulnerable. The middle of the defense (Wilfork, Mayo,
Spikes) are not.
And Spikes didn't even gouge anyone's eyeballs out!
Yet.
McCourty looked solid to me. Wilhite and Butler looked the most
suspect of anyone in that secondary. Butler drew that pass
interference even though he didn't appear to be beaten on the play.
Also, he got beaten by Reggie Bush to the outside on that TD, but that
can happen to a lot of players.
