Also, it's a great move, why exactly? There is no future for the
Dolphins with Pennington. Even if he can pull their collective heads
out of their asses and get them to the playoffs, which is unlikely,
what does that do for them for the long haul? I think it's a very
poor management decision by the the Dolphins. Unless they are
officially closing the book on the Henne experiment. After all,
Parcells clearly felt that Henne was NOT the future for the Dolphins.

Good move for Fish.. Bad move for Jets and rest of AFC East. From a
friend that lives in Miami... Pennington has been seen in practice
throwing with good velocity and excellent accuracy since the season
started. How long he can hold up is questionable, but he will have
an instant positive impact.

to be in the market for a new Qb anyway.

Mind set...QB savy....game decision making wise...Chad P is one of the very
best I think. I also think that for them at this time he is the better
choice because he knows Henning well too, and contrary to some things I've
heard here he did develop a good relationship with him in his first year

Remember Staubach & Morton getting benched. Did that destroy
Staubach? Morton rallied & ultimately played in a Super Bowl.
They may be saving a young QB. btw Pennington is better than 60% of
the QB's in the league when healthy.

Ryan Mallett: Mechanical and accuracy problems. He sucks.

I think it would be well worth it for the Fish to trade away an entire
draft to get Luck Or Locker. I like Luck a lot better. If they
insist on not trading up, I'd go for Stanzi.

any QB of the last 20 years.
His passing rating that year has been topped by Peyton only once and
Brady only once in their careers -- those are two great HoF QBs who've
played on hugely more talented teams with hugely better coaching for
22 seasons between them. And that was when he was a novice beginner.
If Chad had had a better HC than Herm, and better OC than Hacket, and
the front office had been able to maintain the talent level inherited
from Tuna instead of having it plunge to 4-12 quality, and hadn't had
the three shoulder surgeries....

During the preseason this year, Henning said that with Henne, he had to
watch everything the kid did. With Pennington, he said he could take a
nap. Unfortunately for Dolphin fans it appears Henning has been taking

The thing is...I really feel like some of those inuries were a DIRECT result
of the loss of talent and the caliber of coaching...both of those issues can
really put a QB at risk for injury. I vividly remember watching him live
and thinking how close to getting hurt he was so often because of flat out
stupid decisions being made and some protection that was almost
non-existent.

If Schott leaves & takes Cavanaugh. Why not get him as the back up /
QB coach?
Why not just the QB coach? I never liked that player / coach crap....it
looks good but the only thing that really happens is the guy mentors one
QB....Pennington has the smarts and ability to get involved in the offensive
planning...he should come on as a QB coach period...I'd love to see that
happen.

had Brady but they always had young guys as back ups. I just think

And you are 100% correct...so why not just get Sanchez a good QB
coach....one who has not only done it...but is proven to be smart? Sanchez
would definitely benefit from a very good coach. For example, Doug Williams
credits Dan Henning completely for the SB win. One really good, dedicated
QB coach can make a world of difference...and even be the interface between
the QB and the OC.

Chad P. understands the fundmentals and all of the thought
processes...that's what I meant. My idea is, has been, that the QB needs
someone between him and the OC, especially when young....the OC can get so
intense that it seems like all the blame is going to the QB...the fact that
Schott limits him so much (or Rex does) must be very frustrating....maybe
the kind of personality that can buffer that and is also a high profile type
person (like Rex) would take some of the pressure out of the deal.
