Whether this Jets defense was the '85 Bears or the unit it actually
is, I'd still say tonight's game is on the offense.

The defense carried the Jets all of last season in to the AFC title
game, and performed solidly if not great this year. Sure allowing 45
and 38 to NE and Chicago is unacceptable, but where the fuck was the
offense in that NE game? Or in home losses to Baltimore, GB and Miami?
If the offense shows up even just a smidgeon in those games the Jets
are 14-2.

Today's game rests on the offense. The defense will do its best with
what it has. The offense has no excuses. It's gotta put up points and
lead the way. And if necessary carry the entire team.

I would argue that one has to credit the specials: Cromartie's two great
returns, Folk's clutch FG, not giving the Colts any yardage on returns,

A D that prevented Peyton from scoring in the first quarter while Shott
figured out how to call running plays to Shonn up the middle and LT off
the edge and get the OL blocking, and then did not give up a TD at the
end after Shott unnecessarily gave the ball back to the Colts.

And an offense that ate up most of the second half running and passing
the ball up and down the field versus the Colts, eating the clock, and
then with a minute left, got the team to the ten yard line to win it.

All three phases of the game, as one would expect.

PS. Thank the Colts HC for his time management, leaving us plenty of
time and Rex not screwing it up at the end.

Particularly not wasting a timeout to freeze Vinatieri.
