On paper, the Pats win this by 2 touchdowns at least. In the immortal
words of Kent Thaler, "Having said that", I think it will be close,
with the Pats winning by 7-10 points, something like 35-28.
Accordingly, I picked the Jets to cover. This is the most important
Pats/Jets game in a long time (ever?). To the regular posters in here,
good luck, and let's hope for a good game. If the Jets somehow manage
to pull this off, I will be back to make sure they take it to the
Steelers. Alas, I do not think so :)

1) John, I hope you don't mind my hoping that our team wins. I think
everyone will acknowledge that as a team, the Pats are the best, insofar
as they consistently get the most out of their personnel more than any
other team in the league. Their record with Cassel is proof positive of
this. So I cannot agree with your wish. I just hope our Coaching staff
does enough to enable our team to show the talent we have, which as
posted elsewhere, I think should be enough.
2) As a very old fart, I take the mud bowl more personally than younger
Jet fans. I remain convinced that had the league refused to let Shula
get away with his breaking the rules, we would have won the game on a
decent field. I think the proof of this assertion is in Shula's actions.
OTHO, I think with the plethora of Pat draft picks recently and in the
future, that if we cannot beat the Pats now, our future is doomed. AFC
Championships go through NE until another team proves that is not the
case. Given my time is more limited, I sure hope that such proof occurs
now and by us ] as opposed to a decade from now. Personally, I would
like a run of success like Kraft's organization has earned. IOW, I think
today's game is the second most important and if I don't think the mud
bowl need be mentioned, no one should. The first cemented the merger and
set the stage for football as we know it today. The second cements the
future -- for better or worse. All the mud bowl did was continue the
league's allowing the Jets the short end of the stick.

Good analysis H....great analysis. The mud bowl did not create change....a
shift in the nature of the game...SB #3 did do that, and today could if the
Jets win or even, for that matter, come close. The Pats have a superb set
up draft wise. Your analysis of their play with Cassel is important. They
do not ever beat themselves, leaving it to other teams to have to attack
them. The League is divided and the trend has been for teams to play to not
lose. We are seeing how that does not work when a team gets to the
playoffs. BB changes, keeps it moving and does not settle to just sit and
wait....he goes out to win a game. I do not like him and I do not like the
Pats...but I know "good" when I see it and they are, they get more out of
each player than any other franchise. Some teams have to have a "star" RB
to even attempt to have a running game...BB has been able to design a team
offense that allows "just good" RB's to play like stars. Now...I'm hoping
and praying that the Jets will go out and seize the day and take it
away...play to win. PC

game...it was Rex vs Bill, and he did something about it.
Only slightly surprised at the outcome, really....

My guess is that the Refs prevent us from beating the Steelers twice at
home unless Tomlin fails to prepare them or they make some early gaffes.

Burf, Michael has been whining about the Steelers and refs. All I know
is what I have seen. How many other teams have caused the NFL to admit
that they blew major calls in a SB game?
I don't think knowledge is the same as paranoia or cynicism.
The Steelers probably have the least calls for holding while a game is
on the line of any team that grabs as much as they do.
