on both sides of the ball.

Terrible game plan from Schott and from Rex. Sloppy execution.
Enough blame to be shared by all. Onward to Pittsburgh and Chicago.

That had to be worst game these 2 teams have ever played. I don't
consider it a Dolphin win, as much as I count it as a "non-loss".

BTW, that asshole coach or whoever the shithead was that stuck his leg
out on the sidelines, should cost the jets a hefty fine, and shouldn't
be allowed on the field again, ever.

Rex has the same contempt for the offense Buddy had. that isn't good
Landry and Shula were both defensive players and coaches but they were both
offensive masters.
Rex would do well to follow their example and learn what goes on on the
other side of the ball.

The D did not play fine. They were disorganized. Having 9 men on the
field cost a time out. But tha's not what you meant by "lack" of
personnel. The D was assisted by facing a horribly inept offense.
You saw last week what a good offense does to this over rated defense
and we've seen team after team shred the defense on 3rd down and take
a lead late in the game. Haven't you noticed the defensive collapse
game after game?

THe offense is putrid and of course the coaching is to blame as well
as the players for dropping almost everything that actually made it to
them. Keller can't catch a cold. Holmes drops a sure TD pass and
Sanchez hits under 50% of his throws with the bad ones way off the
mark. Here you see the result when you combine mediocre offensive
talent and and bad offensive coaching.

It would be naive to ignore Rex's deficiencies in all of this. Rex
sanctions the offensive game plan and design. He needs to force it to
change. Unless you really believe that Schott doesn't report to Rex.
That would be absurd if true. Now I have no idea the extent of
Greene's injury but you can bet the farm that the decision to overplay
LT all this season has been Rex and 100% Rex. You saw it on Hard
Knocks. Rex is out to prove to the world he was "right" in dumping TJ
for LT. I think the quote was "I love being right". To ignore the
detrimental impact of Rex's ego on this team's performance is akin to
taking a myopic view of what is happening on the Jets. Schott
sucks...true, but the scarier issue is whether or not Rex will grow up
as a HC.

agree 100 %. sanchez was late with his reads and gets some of the
rap, but the offense as a whole was unprepaired and horrendously
designed. the offensive game plan sucked... the play calling
sucked... the protection schemes were a joke... the jets have the most
predictable offense in the league. the defense did play well, but
chand henne helped a lot in making the jet defense look good. i dont
know which qb looked worse... henne or sanchez. we have seen sanchez
play very well and he has all the tools. that wont count for much in
schotty's offense. sanchez is going to go up the spout for good
unless somthing is done about schotty. the only time the jet offense
looked good under schotty was the middle of the season during the
favre year. that is beacuse favre was dictating much of the offense
and calling... errr um... "suggesting" his own plays. the jets
offense could not score against boise state much less a good NFL
defense.

Where to begin?

Start with the D, Rex's brain child. They played great only because
Henne sucked so badly. Period. Save for a few hustle plays, they
lucked out because Henne couldn't get anything done and Marshall was
worse than Keller. THEIR D was about on a par with ours, except for
Wake, who is the pass rusher we don't have. Rex is not doing a great
job with them, and throw Pettine in that boat too. And WTF is Taylor
doing in coverage when he's or one legit pass rusher? If the jets
could play Henne every week, we MIGHT make a Super Bowl run, but about
the only QB worse that him in the league right now is Sancho.

The O: I don't believe that it has taken the pro-Schitts (yes, I mean
you, Tut and JohnC) this long to see how fucked up this infantile play
calling is. But better late than never.
I don't remember who it was, but a bunch of guys, in this group, got
together some six or seven years ago and wrote a very cogent letter to
Woody detailing how putrid Herm was (along with Cant Hackett). I
implore whoever was responsible for that "truth to power" missive to
send one off to Woody (a major disappointment himself, btw) concerning
Shitt's ineptitude. He's got to go. Until then, I'm putting my
fandom into deep freeze. What a continued wast of energy.

How much can be expected of a defense that get's NO help from the offense,
poor field position and a ton of 3 and outs? For the first time I think Rex
has some questions about what is, and has been going on with the offense.
The O line was terrible...but how can guys be expected to block when the D
knows exactly what to expect? They are so freakin predictbable...and even
the opponents are saying that...as well as guys like Klecko and other
commentators. there is absolutely no scheme to the running game at all.
I'm going to stop here because I have no appetite for all the guys who will
come back with crap about how great Schott is...this has been happening all
season long, and what we see now is what we are reaping. Some people are
just die hard fans, others are actually fans of the game first...and these
guys do not prepare for the game.

This is how Rex has prepared this team for December football:
Multiple days off after losses, sloppy disorganized preparation for
your most important rival with more than 10 days to prepare. This is
how you prepare for December football? Nice work by Rex. Maybe he
should give them some extra time off before Chicago and Pittsburgh.
Rex has given us a sloppy team that would have trouble beating a
Division 3 team. On the bright side, he is a young HC who can
certainly learn from his mistakes. I hope he does.

9 defensive players on the field for goal line defense. Time Out
called. LOL... Just terrible coaching out there. The defense got a
break because Henne was as bad as Sanchez. Detroit, Cleveland,
Houston and of course NE QBs have shreded this defense in the 2d half
of games. This defense is vastly overrated this year. I hold Rex
accountable for this. The players have under achieved...players like
Cromartie, who has to be one of the softest big DBs I have ever seen,
all of our safeties, Bryan Thomas, even Scott has disappeared at
times. I won't even mention the DL, where Ellis and Pouha have had
some solid play but no one else. And whose decision is it to drop our
only pass rusher into coverage in what seems like 50% of the plays.
That is just whacky coaching and defensive strategy. Taylor should
rarely drop into coverage. I dunno BuRf.. if you think this defense
is as good as all the Rex puffing then hats off to you. I see a
crappy disorganized apporach that is suspect to getting victimized on
3rd downs in the second half especially game after game. Green Bay
was the last strong defensive performance. Cincinnati and Miami
madeit easy because Palmer and Henne suck.

open your eyes. Rex and Tanny made the call to use LT to the point of

In addition to making LT the focusof the offense based on ego and
thereby overplaying him, Rex's other problems include tolerating an
undisciplined, unprepared team on both sides of the ball. In addition
to not having a clue when to not to throw a challenge flag, Rex has a
host of problems he needs to correct in order to become a good HC.
Right now he is not. He's young. I have confidence he can correct
his deficiencies. But they are severe and need attention. We cut
Herm no slack when he sent out an unprepared, uninspired team. Well
we have got ourselves an undisciplined, penalty prone sloppy bunch on
both sides of the ball. The bonehead late hits and penalties are a
result of poor coaching. We have receivers and a 1st round pick TE
who drop almost everything, we have a QB who can be terribly
inaccurate and inconsistent between his good moments. One who pouts
and sulks on the sidelines when things don't go right. This defense
in 2009 were great tacklers and now, in 2010 they are poor tacklers?
Why? Lack of players? Nope. Good tackling is the result of good
coaching and this unit has stepped back in that department in 2010.
That's on Rex.

The problems on the Jets go way deeper than Schott, although Schott is
an integral part of the problem.

Burf, you are right the problem is Shott, but John and David are right
that Rex is not the answer and may be responsible for some of Shotts'
worst flaws.

Rex wants a conservative offense that does not screw thing up for his D.
For reasons I do not understand, he does not want an offense as
attacking as defense and special teams.

Shott needs to have the reins pulled from him for reasons enumerated in
another post. But they should not be handed to Rex. He cannot hold the
reins until he gets that the job of the offense is to win games by
attacking the opponent's defense.

I've been following football for a long long time and when
I watch the Jets play, the first thing that springs to mind
is lack of discipline and practice, not the playcalling. It
may indeed be Schott's fault that they don't get enough reps
and the receivers have stone hands and the QB isn't quite
accurate enough, but it's not because of the playcalling.
Cotchery was wide open in that last series and dropped a
ball in his breadbasket. That's not the fault of playcalling.
Ben-Jarvus Green-Ellis may not be the athlete that Santonio
Holmes is in terms of speed or quickness, but he hasn't
fumbled a ball since high school (and that's a fact, not
an exaggeration).

Sid Gillman could have climbed out of his grave and called the plays &
it wouldn't have mattered. Sanchez couldn't hit the turf yesterday if
that is where it was supposed to go.

btw Bozo, I made a comment last year & continued it this year that the
offense has issues. Part of the blame lies with Ryan as I believe
they are dysfunctional because Schott is being asked to be a slave to
two masters.

Part of the pedagogy of coaching is you have a system but you are able
to adjust. There is no system as there appears to be multiple
systems. It really got bad last year when they started sticking Hunter
in as the TE. Blame who you want but it was never part of any system
Schott came from so who is to blame?

Also if you want to complain about Schott complain about why the
players can't cut down on errors both mental & physical. To but to
bitch about play calling when the idiots go off side, drop the ball,
etc. is just BS because you don't know how good or bad it is until

See Glenn, this is the problem with the ASM. If you are not exclusive
in your criticisms of Schott and even for a moment point to other
glaring problems on the team **in addition to**, not in lieu of, the
faulty offensive game plans and play calling, then that must mean you
are Pro-Schott! Don't you see? Read Carl's post again if you're not
sure of this. Now everyone knows I like Rex and I am glad he is the
HC of this team. I think he is a good HC and will get better as time
goes on. But pointing out the problems our big mouthed sophomore head
coach has in getting the team, including the defense, prepared or
having the defense organized (9 players on the field for a goal line
stand, for example) or pointing out how our offensive players drop
almost every pass among the minority of Sanchez passes that are
actually on on target or how the defense's tackling has gone straight
down the toilet since 2009 or how the defense often falls into 2nd
half funks where they let unknown QBs shred them on third downs ...
ahem Cleveland... Detroit... means you are missing their reality
that Schott is the one and only problem preventing this team from a
championship. My reality is different. I am not blind to the
mulotiple problems on the Jets in addition to Schott. Player problems
and coaching problems. I wonder if Rex will give the team 3 days off
again. Hope he shows us he can learn from his mistakes. So far I
don't see it as much as I had hoped.

I disagree....I have NO way of knowing what you really think. All I can do
is respond to the juvenile crap you post when a couple of us see what the
problem is. If you think it makes good discussion to keep posting "It's
Schotts fault" , like a 7 year old school child on the playground I don't
know what to say. By default that is defending the guy. When all of this
nonsense began there was only a couple of us who did not like what the O was
doing in any shape or form, and most of the others disagreed. When some of
us said that the O still has a lot of the negative characteristics from the
Mangini years we were told we didn't know what we were talking about. To
me, it is only now that it has become so evident there is a huge problem
with the O that any movement has occurred. AND...your post is why I react
to you the way I do. Is that the only thing you can find in what I
posted...apparently it is, point made.

Papa how about the time you buRf & Johnny won that drag queen
competition?

Oh, it never happened -- well I can't guarantee that -- but it has as
much basis in reality as does your statement above.

and we disagree...what kind of a hang up do you have when you make a
statement like that about me, Burf and Johnny? Is that humor?

Absolutely.....we get called "cowards" and then Tut jumps in and defends the
guy who says stuff like that.....I'm only made or hating myself for coming

Bur, I cannot believe Rex has nothing to do with the insistence on
carrying extra tight ends and FB and all the sets with extra tight ends
that make it easier for teams to stop our running game because they
replace would be receivers with stiffs and allow the D to rush more.

Rex can only show he is not involved by getting rid of Shott and having
those aspects of our playbook disappear before it is too late.

Carl, do you really want to go down this road? Read what Burf wrote to
me and you will understand why i brought it up.

The offense was bad, but the defense was ridiculously good.

Here's all Miami was able to muster on offense:

- 10 points
- 6 first downs
- 131 total yards
- 5-19 passing
- 3 turnovers
- 26:12 time of possession

The Miami FG came after a Sanchez INT. Miami managed to go 29 whole
yards before Carpenter hit a 47 yard FG. The Miami TD came after a
Sanchez fumble on the next possession. The Dolphins managed to go 26
yds for the TD. So both Miami scores came on short fields thanks to
the inept offense.

That's as dominating a defensive performance as you can ask for.
Obviously they were quite prepared on the defensive side of the ball.
I know you're rightfully upset for losing that game, but don't blame
the defense.

Miami's offense can't get out of its own way. But of course you are
right. What I am really upset about is the overall culture on the
team. The loosey goosey take a few days off, have a godammed snack
attitude, can NEVER get us to a championship. These group of players
(and coaches and assistants, it seems; see Alosi) is as undisciplined
as a Herm Edwards team. Rex has to change this or he will not be a
success as a HC.

Yep. Sanchez has been very bad lately and I'm not sure there's enough
time left in the season for them to "fix" him. Long-term, I still
think he's a viable NFL quarterback, but he's really hurting them
right now. It could be extremely ugly against Pittsburgh.

I think it had to do with the fact that Woodhead is a helluva
ballplayer, not an attempt to get some intel on the Jets.

BB knows what he's doing, that's for sure. I think the jury is still
out on Rex.
