for the 6 millionth time right now. Watching it reminded me of our
very own general.
That's what I like about Rex: there is no bullshit. Like he said
during one practice on Hard Knocks: "God I love football." Not unlike
when George C. Scott - one of the most brilliant actors of all time
btw - delivers that famous line surveying the destruction of a
battlefield after talking to the soldier: "I love it. God help me, I
do love it so. I love it more than my life."
Lead us to victory, Gen. Ryan. We've been yearning for decades. We
will follow you to the very end.

I love that film as well. Scotts finest moment but..... he turned out to
be such a disappointment as an actor. He made a series of really bad films
before he died. Always made me wonder how good he really was?

well... i hope rex's mouth and bravado do not bring him to the same
ends that patten's mouth took him to. as a result of being impolitic,
patton was not considered to take over the italian campaign. very
unfortunate considering that patton's abilities and smarts would have
saved time and blood taking italy. his ability to be creative would
have been ideal in that campaign. they guy they had running the show
there for the allies did exactly what kesselring wanted him to. all
the time.

You speak like you knew him and his motivations. Are all actors that
shallow? Great actors rarely do bad films, and almost never give a bad
performance, even if the film sucks. (Nicholson, Tracy, Hepburn, Olivier,
Streep, Bogey, Cagney, Deniro caliber people). Of course they all make a
stinker now and then, but I'm thinking Scott could have picked alot better
is all I'm saying. JMHO

Peter Sellers was the king of that film, (3 roles and if not for a broken
leg, he would have played 5 roles I read), so Scott's job in that one was
more a cameo. How about Scott in The Hustler? Played a terrific low life
slime. And I liked him as the con man in Flim Flam man.

Well I haven't seen the film in awhile. Lets see Scott in the bedroom
with GF, then a few scenes in the war room. Did he have more screen time
