Turner broke his leg. You guys better be wrong about Ducasse. Can you
spell O'Hara?

Source: Offensive lineman Rob Turner breaks leg, will miss 8-10 weeks

BY Manish Mehta

The Daily News has learned that offensive lineman Rob Turner suffered
a broken leg in last night’s preseason loss to the Texans. He is
scheduled to have surgery and will likely be out for 8-10 weeks,
according to a source. Gang Green is now thin along the line. Turner
was a versatile backup, who started at center for Nick Mangold
(stinger) last night. The Jets will likely be in the market for a
backup center now.

Turner was injured in the first quarter when Texans’ rookie J.J. Watt
rolled up on him after beating Vlad Ducasse. Mark Sanchez stepped up
in the pocket before he was sacked. Watt, meanwhile, rolled up on
Turner from behind. The center’s right leg was caught underneath Watt.

It’s a fairly significant blow for an offensive line that was already
pretty thin. Ducasse is the primary backup guard and tackle. Robby
Felix, who played last night in relief of Turner, is now the backup
center.

Former Giants lineman Shaun O'Hara could be an option for Gang Green.
Although the Jets hadn't reached out to O'Hara as of noon on Tuesday,
it may make sense to add the three-time Pro Bowler. O'Hara, 34, has
already drawn interest from several AFC teams, including the Dolphins
and Ravens. He was released by the Giants in July.

The Jets have $6.69 million available under the cap, according to a
report on nfl.com.

NOTE: RB Joe McKnight suffered what is believed to have been a
concussion in the first half last night, according to a source.

i am sure ducasse sucks just a sure as turner has a broken leg.
ducasse may or may not be coachable, but if they put him in in front
of sanchez now, it can only mean they want mcelroy to be their
starting qb. they had better get a professional back-up lineman on
the roster before sunday night. it does not have to be anthony
munoz... any swinging dick they can get with at least marginal
ability. call damian woody... he at least has brains

The shit hath hit the fan already...Ducasse is NOT salvagable. They better

knows the play book. i'f he takes vet min and digs the bench, he's
crafty enough to be a back-up. he can play g, t and c

As far as Ducasse goes... I WANT NAMES !!! Who's influence and input
was behind the Ducasse pick ??? Tanny ??? Rex ??? A scout or assistant
coach that knew of him ??? Who did it ??? Who wanted to use the Jets
second pick to draft a guy with minimal playing time and from
Massachusetts of all places.

:-) LOL...it's a modern American corporate practice...multi-tasking so you
can do a lot of things half assed and none of them well. My last place of
employment loved it and could never figure out why they continued on a
downward spiral when they had once been so great.

I rewatched part of the game as I was getting ready. It is not good but
really not at the level some describe.

The lack of off season was bad timing but I don't get this jumping around.
How is a young player who played at lower level than most going to master
one position? was Callahan, Ryan & Schott at your hospital?

I am no expert but it appears the nature of tackle, especially on passing
downs, seems drastically different than guard. In some of the plays you can
see his power. Hey, he at least has film to watch this week.

The non athlete inverted V buffoons at my last place of work were the types
who used every football analogy they could, "huddle up on this", "get a grip
on the ball", "we've gotta take it to the red zone"...and on and on...it was
obvious none of them ever played...but they went to a lot of motivational
trainings that used the football analogies. BTW...this was a psych
hospital....there is a phenomenon called parallell process...when the
patients aren't nuts enough, some of the staff fills the void. This tribe
did a great job of that. And it was always about filling multiple roles (we
treated patients who felt they could do that) and getting the most out of
what we had and "playing with 110 %" That is called obsessive compulsive to
some...but OK if you're working for them.

Seriously...I'm with you...the two positions are different. Who knows what
they are really thinking.
