Heard somewhere that Cowher was making a play for the Jets last year,
before the Colts and Bengals gifted the Jets a playoff berth.
Supposedly even Tannenbaum would have been booted. Anyone have more
details?

unsubstantiated rumor at best. Never heard anything about it. Rex
was already in place so I doubt the vercity of this.
