I don't mind him returning because he can be put to some use but I
want to see Greene with the majority of the workload. He can be a
beast but he has to cure his tendency to fumble.

part the Jets showed otherwise, no (as they did in Rex's first year,

Yup regarding old RBs falling off a cliff. In the article I think it
was mentioned LT may receive a smaller workload next year, in favor of
Greene and McKnight. I definitely want more Greene regardless, at a
minimum.

They still crumbled when it counted the most. Now they sit up there
with the Browns of the late eighties as the only teams to reach the
AFC title game back to back and not go on to the SB. Yeah, that's
something to be known for and proud of.

fishing for a UDF, a lower round pick or a back needing a team who might
do well with a better OL than investing so much in a back who will get

I never said the past two years is something the Jets should be "known
for or proud of." On the contrary, to me it doesn't mean much.
I was, however, just pointing out the Jets were not nearly as SOJ-ish
as you commented on/predicted a couple times this past season. And
mainly, just poking some fun with you at your SOJ proclamations. Maybe
it's good there are some folks like you to counter my non-stop belief
in & positivity regarding the Jets. Like one of my friends once said
if they cut me out comes Jets green blood.

Are you talking about LT? If so, that's a curious assessment
considering his critical production as a key cog last season. An
argument can be made he was the Jets offensive MVP not only in the
regular season but the playoffs as well.

I don't agree. Only 1 team wins it all. All the others are just losers
and failures? I think the Jets had a great season, and more importantly gave
me a full season of hope and entertainment. I'm a fan from the beginning,
but my expectations were satisfied.

apparent he was declining on his ypc and effectiveness.
Look at his performance splits in the first 6 games and the last 6 (not
counting passing plays and pass blocking for which he was obviously
superior).

This is exactly what worries me. I don't understand the "ya gotta go with
who brung ya" attitude. Like bringing in the closer, even though the 8th
inning guy got 3 outs on 3 pitches. Either they didn't have confidence in
Greene, or they were blindly in love with the LT of 5 years ago. Same when
Sanchez had some god awful games, and they stayed with him.

winning it all doesn't mean much to me. All I care about is Super Bowl
championships. Everything else pales in comparison to me.
Further this isn't to say I didn't enjoy the hell out of last season,
because I did. I never put so much in to a Jets season and got so much
in return. I traversed thousands of miles going to several key away
games, and put in more money, time, energy and emotion than I ever
have. And I loved it, it was a wonderfully fun ride. (And I discovered
despite the semi-crazy over expenditure of time, energy and money,
it's how I want to deploy my fan-dom every year from now on. Because
when the final whistle sounds, be it SB champs or not, you can
satisfied knowing you put in everything you had).
But it ended well short of anything that has enduring value to me. In
places like Pittsburgh, for example, conference championship
appearances are practically the annual norm, so that the only thing of
enduring value is winning it all. As long as Rex & Co. are in charge I
like their chances of being that kind of team. I know I wouldn't want
to play the Jets in the playoffs.

Nothing at all. I agree with you. I couldn't quite decipher your exact
point. As I've mentioned in this thread and elsewhere back to last off
season, I want Shonn to get the bulk of the carries. Alas LT was damn
good last year and provided an excellent all-around weapon to
complement Shonn. They were a great tandem.

IINM Shonn's ypc and effectiveness declined as well, tho to be sure
not as much LT's? To me it seemed like there was a stretch where the
entire rushing offense stalled, I think in large measure due to shit
from Schott's.
But regardless of cause, no doubt LT's production dropped markedly for
a stretch in the second half of the season.
Conversely, it shot back up in the playoffs save the Pittsburgh game
when both backs were shut down. LT and Shonn were game changers v.
Indy, and LT was key again v. NE.
The thing with LT is, when he was properly utilized he was a weapon.
But they can't over-use him and they need to let Shonn pound away
more.

The way I saw it is: LT is a way better pass blocker...and they needed
that. That I believe is what got him the plays, I do not belive it works to
just put him in to block, that offense needs to have some deception to it.
I do understand "go with someone" attitudes. If they see something every
day in practice they believe it is up to coaching to bring that out in a
game. In the case of a QB...if you sit the guy, you may lose a very good
player forever...it can happen and experience only comes by working through
things and playing.
All that said, I would liked to have seen one of the guys they let go
stay...and I would like to see more of Greene.
