Cards get a starter who will be cheap and is locked up for years.
If Kellen Clemens, Eric Smith, and Wayne Hunter are all worth third
round picks, Kerry is worth no less.
I think this was a terrible move. I think getting of Kerry is fine. But
getting nothing in return is a mistake. For all of their luck with
fourth round picks, this was getting nothing.

And that would be great if attendance at practice counted for anything....a
7th round pick is a walk on. It's a terrible deal. They get a starter and
the Jets get a huge question mark in a questionable round.

I would trade $2 mil for a third round pick over a fourth (even though
we have traditionally done better with our fourth round picks). At least
the 7th should have had escalation clauses to another 4th in 2011.
I suspect this was about power, money, and urgency.
I just hope the Jets don't panic and draft Taylor VG Mays or lose a
first or second round pick for their replacement.

20-20 hindsight (to my angst about the Kerry R trade).
The only way this trade at this time makes sense is if Lowery, Coleman
or Cole is the starting FS, covering deep pass routes and performs
better than did Kerry.
Perhaps the FO knew what we did not; that we had our starting safety on
our team for a lot less money. If that is the case, then saving the $2
mil is more palatable.
I don't see this as likely; but then, I am not coaching the team or D.
I sure hope this is the case because the apparent stupidity of the move
(getting so little in return) belies my confidence of the tenders and
cutting of TJ.

Rhodes was shopped. Everyone around the league is well aware that
the Jets staff, Pettine and of course Rex were less than pleased with
Carrie's softness and lack of effort. The few good plays he had
toward the end could not salvage him. There was no way that the Jets
were going to get more. Not with the half-effort displayed by Rhodes
since he got his big contract.
Harlan, this is addition by subtraction. Carrie Rhodes has just been
made into an example when you don't play to the level Rex expects on
defense. The impact of that goes way farther than having to fill a
hole at this position, which I have no doubt will get done. It sets a
clear expectation for effort and heart to play on Rex's team.

3rd? Clemens wouldn't get anything and Smith would be lucky to get a
6th. Your expectations and assesment of value is way off.

Rhodes was expelled. The Jets took the best offer. He was not wanted
by this defensive staff. This should be obvious to all. I challenge
the assumptions in this grouop that Rhodes value was higer than a
4th. The entire league saw the lack of heart and effort displayed by
tweety-pie over the last 2 years. Way too Hollywood.

b, you miss my point.
Some of the same people scream about Gholston not being cut --which can
be in done in July as well as today--are ignoring the other possible
factors involved with the coach/player relationship. They want a point
to be made with cutting Gholston but discount that a point may have been
made with trading Rhodes. At least with Gholston there is a cap logic
behind the decision.
To me it appears inconsistent.
Let's hope Tutor's evaluation of Rhode's play is right & this was a steal.

How do you know that getting the 4th and the 7th wasn't considerably
more than Arizona first offered?
I am amazed that anyone thinks that Rhodes the well known slackard on
the field could get much more than a 4th. Heck... Harlan thinks that
Clemens could fetch a 3rd round draft pick. Now I haven't done drugs
in many decades but some of you guys make me want to go back to those
days.

Rhodes was not worth anything more than we got except in the minds of
Jets fans who can only see the Rhodes before his big contract. I
expected Rhodes to be gone the moment he was called out by Rex and
