Some great college type bars in that Union Square area...and I don't
drink...but I did have a lot of fun...long time ago a band was playing a
familiar tune with these words...."Erik don't wanna run, No Erik don't wanna
run...that ain't no way to play football son, no, no no no no...." They
hated Dickerson...ripped most of the team. A good friend of mine had some
major surgery out there and I went back with him for all the follow up
stuff. It was a good time.

I was really surprised at how big, area wise, it is...then I figured out the
whole frakin city is the county too, plus it was the most humid place I ever
was in summer...and hot.

the most humid place in the US that I remember was St Louis. It was
worse than south Florida humidity. At least there was rain most
everymoring to cool things off and wind at night near Miami. St Louis
was stagnant stale torturous humidity. Though, I was there late in
the summer and was never there in the fall or winter.

St. Louis has the worst that Houston & Chicago can offer.

The gulf coast has some of the worst humidity and it goes on forever
but you get 7-8 months of great weather as a trade off. If you want
snow you fly to it. I am still not sure what I hate more: heat &
humidity or the cold & snow.

The thing with the Gulf Coast or any coast is a breeze...that does not
happen in that summer midwest humidity till a twister comes.

So come on back North...move to Jersey and you can get it all....hurricanes,
an occasional twister in Central Jersey, outrageous 100+ heat, freezing cold
with snow, ice and rain, congested highways, overcrowding everywhere, crime,
troubled schools, some of the highest taxes in the country, if you don't
like the weather, wait a day...and above all...The Jets. Oh....I forgot the
sink holes and bad air quality :-)

lots of brand new office and corporate parks / headquarters with nobody in

"Turning cornfields into condos and parks into parking lots....that's NJ."

I like, "You figure it out in the blizzard...I'm going to Disney World."
"So what if you don't have books to use, teach them something else."
Or...."If you can't afford the property taxes, sell it and move." Living
near and around a lot of the State offices can be very enlightening. Some
of the clowns who got jobs the last time around definitely fit your
suggestion....I love the "commisioners" who have ZERO experience in the area
they are in charge of. Hey, I have a good idea...let's sell the Turnpike !

yep... one pig greasing up the next one. and the nj state gov is
light weight stuff in comparison to the fed. i'd be in favor of a few
years of dictitorial government with the right guy as the dictator.

The Enlightened Dictator....I think Dick Cheney is running for that
job...except not the enlightened part. I actually think the State stuff is
worse, maybe not as much waste, but total corruption is worse.

the current state gov is merely the putrefaction that stats after
death. the killer infection started higher up the chain about 145
years ago. next stop, neo feudalism. complete with the lordship and
their noble knights all decked out in contemporary suits of shining
amour ready to go into the fields to keep the surfs in line.

could not agree more. imho, other than digging up teddy roosevelt and
propping his corps up someplace, a few years of dictatorship looks
like the only way to clear things out. im wondering though, if nj's
own christie would make a good presedential ticket next time around
with may be rubio as vice. christie at least had the stones to get in
front the two most brutal unions.

not more money... what is needed is more iron in the glove. oddly
enough, most people see the problem clearly and understand the inertia
against the most practical solutions. for right now, even if a guy
like Christie has the political will to stand in front of unions,
things are not bad enough just yet for enough people where mobs line
up right behind him. right now, i would have no problem at all
voting dictatorial powers to a bull dozer. on both state and fed
levels. the component of government where the people could elevate a
"counsel" to dictator status (with a defined mandate) during crisis is
one that should be added to our government. the idea that such power
corrupts is horse shit. the worst kind of people are attracted to
corrupt political systems where they seek to live and thrive like rats
on a bloated corps. without the possibility of dynamic and swift
intervention, ALL *democratic* political systems are bound to evolve
into a culture of corruption.
