There're the only ones worthy. Super "bowl" show every time. Totally
awesome!

Have any of you bros seen them?

This is weird. I was just thinking about them being the next SB act
yesterday! It'll be interesting, but I hate the medley crap.

Watching 65-year old Daltrey (in his toupee) and Townsend do "Teenage
Wasteland" at the Super Bowl made me think of bringing back the Soviet
Red Army Chorus Alumni to perform "The Internationale" at a Goldman
Sachs Christmas party.

Yes, they suck but The Who sucked more.

When you think about it, isn't the SB enough hype? Who gets the glory,
the SB or the act? Does it pump up the ratings? Does a 15 minute medley
really make any difference to anyone, even big fans?
I vote for an oldies medley. 4 Seasons, 5 Satins, Little Anthony, Jay &
The Americans, all get wheeled out and do 1 shortened tune.

The more I think about it, the more the Pearl Jam thing doesn't make
sense to me. Eddie Vedder, the consummate anti-corporate voice,
agreeing to perform in the Super Bowl? On the brink of a lockout, no less?

I read somewhere the other day that following the past eight or ten
Super Bowls the group that appeared had a very significant spike in the
sales of their music and paraphernalia. If true, is there any wonder
these gray eminences continue to appear?

And, BTW, your list of oldies stars ain't so old. ;)

speaking of oldies...

i remember jet games from the days at shea stadium... they had a band
shell there with a full orchestra... that was awesome... swing, hot
jazz and so on... much MUCH better than hearing "hells bells" or
"welcome to the jungle" or some other over played glorification of
violence rock song ad neuseum every fukin week. dont the idiots that
in charge of in-game entertainment know that people are sick of
hearing the same stupid ass stuff over and over ???

opinion of course...

along with being a sub third rate musical talent, vedder is simpleton
and an buffoon masquerading himself as an anti-corporatist. in that
respect, he'd be a perfect fit for the superbowl media bonanza. he's
got an image that the heavies love to sell and he $hares their motive
with great enthusiasm. that shit stain isnt anti anything other than
anti find some real work.

ok...

the only thing that was worse musically speaking than the shit that
sprang up out of seattle was the bigger heap of shit that first sprang
up out of the minneapolis - st paul scene in the 80's. total
excrement in every respect. musically, socially...

We used to mock that band all the time. "fallin in love with love with
live everlasting.... that's love".

I was trying to reach a bigger audience than if I was talking about The
Ink Spots, Bill Haley, The Cadillacs, and other assorted dead guys.
