Let me clarify on the seeding, if the Bengals beat the Jets last
night, the reward would have been playing the Texans who beat them
during the regular season quite handily. Is it better to lay down one
week and get the same opponent the following week? (You take their
best shot, and head to the film room; they were playing for a wildcard
birth.) I think so.
If you look at my thread above I am a but concerned. I grab hope in
that the Bengals have struggled in the 2nd half. Now you can make that
argument about the Jets as well but yes there is concern. They sat down
almost exactly the same positions as the Pats did.
Bookmakers have the Bengals as 4 point favorites.

First off if the Bengals beat the Jets they would have been the third
seed which gives them a chance to host the AFCCG. Is that not worth
playing for?
Secondly, no team wants to be humiliated on national TV and that is
what happened 6 plays into the game. The Bengals will be a much
tougher out next week but this wasn't like they were laying down. Was
part of the equation for the Bengals to drop pass after pass? Was
Palmer planning to throw a pick to close the half? Did they D call a
freeway play on the Brad Smith play 6 plays into the game?
If you want to talk about a game that was gift wrapped for the Jets,
talk about the Colts. I give the Jets a 1 in 8 chance to beat the
Colts on any given day. The fact is the Bengals were trying to win in
the first half and the Jets punched them in the mouth and broke their
will.
Also, I even doubt this is the real Beilselbub beacause that guy isn't
a retard and only a retard would say a guy faked an injury during warm
ups.
Maybe but why play Palmer if your best WR isn't going to play?
The Texans beat them by 9 points not 19. The Bengals fumbled twice &
Carson P threw a pick in the 2nd half. They were leading at half time.
The Texans couldn't run the ball all year but ran it vs. the Bengals. It
will be interesting to see how the Jets run it on Saturday.
Our first drive, which even Schott's detractors will tell you is his
strength, could prove interesting & could set the tone.
The other thing is with the exception of Green Bay, when this team
faces a good defense, the O goes into the tank.
The smart move by both teams was to sit d-linemen, and therefore alter
the feel that the o-line gets for blocking assignments. By sitting a
CB you give the QB a false sense of security. Looking at the film,
the offense has to question what they can believe. Will they have the
same success running the ball? How long will the pass protection hold
up? It's a good way to make the film less meaningful.
(The Pats didn't know if they would be playing the Texans the
following week; that wasn't decided until the evening game. In
hindsight, what they did was smart, except perhaps having Moss and
Welker in the game. Once Welker got injured, they were playing for
pride and emotion, although Belichick was treating it like a practice
for Edelman and Brady. It was a strange game. The players had one
motivation--to win--and Belichick was thinking ahead to a possible
rematch.)
It's not worth playing for a chance to play the Texans, who have a
potent passing game that matches up well with the Bengals' weak
secondary. So the answer is no.

Lol. Watch the game next week. If you win 37-0, there's a chance I'm
wrong. Fair enough?
The Pats should have sat Brady, Welker, Moss, & the DL. The Pats are
10-14 points better than the Texans.
That BB thought that 2/3 teams from the following would lose is a
stretch: Jets, Raven, & Broncos.
huh ??? not sure what the condition of chris crocker is for the
playoff game, but the bengals secondary has been quite good as a
whole... i think they match better agaisnt the texans than they do
against the jets. imho, the jets will win the los battle on both
sides of the ball agaisnt the bengals next week. so long as sanchez
does not tun the ball over, the jets should win. imho, the game
breaker will probably be a turn over or big special teams play.
also... if cedric benson is not close to 100 % the bengals are
toast...
If you sit Palmer it is a pre-season game; you should ask that
question of every starter. Why did Belichick keep bringing Brady out
once Welker was hurt? I believe to establish rapport with Edelman and
Aiken, etc. (Using that logic, perhaps there is some genuine concern
about Chad's knee. Possible, but I still tend to doubt it. The
Bengals treated that game like preseason--Carson had 11 attempts. I
think Ocho talked a good game because he knew he wasn't going to have
to play in it. It was just mind games.)
In hindsight, it looks like the Colts had the right plan. I think
coaches start their players to avoid the criticism they get for
resting them--and perhaps out of fear of them losing their sense of
game timing.
The DB's have 12 picks on the season and Crocker is no slouch so I
don't know where you get this weak secondary stuff from. Maybe you
have been watching the Pats so much you don't know what a good DB
likes like anymore.
Playing the Texans also doesn't scare anyone with a good defense so I
can see why as a Pat fans you would feel this way.

I don't see another blow out and I think I said that. Hey, if the Pats
some how pick off Flacco 3 times, I'm wrong about them as well, Fair
enough?
Dude, admit it. The Pats are now toast without Brady's safety net and
will be that way for a long time. That injury takes a year to come
back from so he is most likely gone all next season as well. Elderman
looks like he is going to be a nice player and he gets a chance to
prove that but he is not Welker. The only possibilty I see the Pats
winning now is running the ball which has not been the teams strength
since Dillon retired.
As to why he played Brady after that, nice try on that explanation but
unless BB just lost every brain cell in his head, wouldn't it be
smarter and SAFER to do this not facing Mario Williams and Demeco
Ryans who would be trying to take Brady's head off?
Listen, you could be 100% correct about the offense. Your conclusion
based on the throws made by Palmer would have merit except for the fact
Palmer only played 14-15 snaps. Yes they had the ball that rarely. So
if pre-season offense entails throwing 80% of the time you are correct.
> In hindsight, it looks like the Colts had the right plan. I think

I said before the game the Bengals should play this game to win just to
get out of their funk. They could have set us up. I wonder how good
their run defense really is. We will find out.
That is why they get us to watch. We will either find out that the Jets
backed into the playoffs and benefitted from Cincy's absent defenders
or the rest of the league is going to need some maalox. If the Jets have
peaked, thanks in part to the gift giving spirit of other teams, a team
that can play defense, run and not make mistakes will usually beat other
teams that make mistakes.
Harlan
Maalox... Ha ! Good one... I think it is a little of both... The Jets
can match well with Cincy and the other teams in the AFC but I dont
think the Clots. They can slow the Colts, but probably they still
wont be able to put up enough points on offense to cover what the
Colts can put up. Also... I think the Jets can beat the other top AFC
team, the Chargers. So much of the Chargers passing depends on them
getting it set up by the possibility of long running gains. I think
the Jets defense could screw up the Chargers offense pretty well. The
Colts offense is not a "scheme" that can be screwed up. Actually...
It is pretty simple. A hand full of routs that if run perfectly is
close to impossible to stop with pressure OR coverage. I also think
the Jets can beat the Ravens and the Pats without Welker. So...
yeah.... Cicny, Pats, Ravens, Chargers need Maalox... The Colts
probably dont...

After they had the Jets as 10 point favorites. Allowing 3 points for
home field, that means the bookies expected the Bengals to tank
11-points worth last night.
Accepting the fact that I'm old school all the way, think the game used to
have some integrity to it and also feel like it has lost way too much of
that part of the game, I will only say this....If a team deliberately tanks,
has a plan to tank, and the players know this and put forth little effort
actually hoping to lose, then they have totally violated any competitive
trust of the game. They should be sanctioned. I really do not think any
team could keep something like this quiet. I do not think a team planned to
tank, as a fighter plans to take a dive...at least I hope they don't. If
they did, then they have really hurt the core of what is the essence of the
game and if that is what gets you to a Lombardi Trophy, it completely
disgraces the name on that Trophy.
If it is a hidden thing, a quiet acquiesence, then it is also a dangerous
thing. Turning the juice back on may not be such an easy thing to do.
OMHO, Papa Carl
No, it's not worth playing for, as both the Patriots and Bengals showed.

By virtue of sitting some of your best players and (presumably) entering
with a vanilla playbook, they're "laying down". This is why the Colts
had an undefeated regular season this year (14-0 to be precise).
Having said all that, I think the Jets will win. I haven't been as
impressed with the Bengals this year as others have been, and for some
reason defense is very important this time of year.

There's where you're wrong. Beiselbub is every bit as retarded as you
think.
Belichick was just continuing his sloppy coaching job this year. Worst
of his career, and I'm including the Browns.
There was absolutely no reason for Brady to have even suited up in this
game. Word is that he has both a broken throwing finger and broken
ribs. And not only was Welker hurt in this game, but so was Sam Aiken
-- the special teams captain and 3rd receiver. If he's out, they'll
have to go through the playoffs in 2 TE sets.
Didn't you say that about Brady?
so he is most likely gone all next season as well. Elderman
> looks like he is going to be a nice player and he gets a chance to

Didn't you say earlier this season that Welker isn't an upgrade over
Edelman?

They actually have the same YPC as they did in '04. They've been
running the ball well the past two seasons. But I agree that the
offense isn't as good as the '07 one and that's going to kill them since
their defense has been inconsistent.

Belichick is off his rocker. The OL was letting people through up the
middle when Hoyer was in the first time. It made no sense to (a) put
Hoyer in at the 1 yard line, and then (b) put Brady back in the game.
Not Belichick's most logical moment...
I am curious as to how they play with Benson in the backfield. Palmer
looked lost.
It will be curious to see how their run defense adjusts with the
additional players. I got more hope when I looked at the stats when they
played Houston. That Houston rushed for 80 yards tells me their run
defense is suspect.
btw sorry about Welker
The broken finger & ribs had me shaking my head last night.
Mark I don't agree and I wouldn't say it's not worth it, the Pats
tried hard to win that game. An additional home game in the playoffs
is always something important if you can get it.

They rested players who were injured from what I heard and that was
smart. I think they were playing vanilla so I do agree with that part
but I still stand by my point getting humiliated could not have been
what they planned.

Ok, I stand corrected :)
And how soon did he come back. Also this is worse than his injury.

I said in the game we played where Welker didn't play, Elderman gained
like a hundred yards and caught a zillion passes so how much more
damage does Welker do. I'd say now a substantial bit more as evidence
would point to in the second meeting.

I also think in order for the Pats to impose their will on a team now,
they have to be able to throw it. There is some hope if they can use
faulk in the Welker role.

So you're saying that the Bengals purposely lost to the Jets without
showing their real plays knowing they were going to play the Jets
again the following week? You sir are a fucking asshole. You MUST be a
Patriot fan.
Based on his performance this year, I doubt that Revis needs a preview
of Ocho Cinco's deteriorating skills.
neither does the film room.

The Bengals were quite short on defense, and I would expect the Jet
offense will not go for another 200 yards in the next meeting and
Sanchez will need to throw more often. As a rookie, he makes rookie
mistakes. If he turns the ball over like he has in some of his worst
games, the Jets won't have much of a chance unless the defense can
pitch another perfect or near perfect game.
First of all, the Pats didn't try to win that game. They left 6
starters at home and took Brady out during the three most crucial series
in the game. Sure, they tried to win with what they had, but they
entered the game intentionally handicapped. If they felt the game was
of any importance at all, they would have tried to win.
Second, neither Cincy nor New England were playing for a potential home
game. There's no chance in hell that BOTH San Diego and Indy lose prior
to the AFCCG. They're head and shoulders above the rest of the
conference. BB and Lewis apparently know this, which is why they did
what they did.
He came back much much sooner than you predicted. He was perfectly fine
for the start of camp. Also, I don't know why you seem to think this is
worse than Brady's. How'd the surgery go? Was there a post-op infection?
This is actually a very common strategy for preseason opponents when
you're going to play them soon in the regular season. I don't see
what's so far-fetched about what Beiselbub, the retard, is saying.
The Chargers still have "Norv" and the Colts defense is all ready to
get run over. Though not probable, it is possible that both the Bolts
and the Dolts go down in round two.
@37-ZIP? LMAO
To some degree I must agree.
Knowing what transpired with the Colts I'd wager that Goodell did not want
to address additional paid sponsor complaints in a Sunday Night prime time
game that generally warrants higher advertising costs. I can easily see that
Goodell likely did speak to the Cinnci front office and Marvin Lewis before
the Jets game asking that Cinnci play some if not all of their starters. It
was obvious to anyone that knows Marvin Lewis and how he attacks the running
game that he was playing a very vanilla D against the Jets with 4 down
linemen over the majority of the game when the starters were playing. The
Bengals defensive MO is to put 8 in the box against good rushing offenses,
...and last night the few times (perhaps 3x) that the Bengals showed that D
they stopped the Jets rush with minimal or no gains.
Offensively the Bengals are usually on par with the Chargers offense when
Palmer is healthy IMO. Next week in Cinnci with Benson at RB and Johnson not
dicking around they will appear to be a totally different offense from that
we watched Sunday night.
Don't assume that any of this means that the Jets can not beat the Bengals
at home, as certainly anything is possible on any given gameday and if Rex
(who knows the Bengals well from his time with the Ravens) continues to let
his team believe that the Bengals gave their "honest all" in the Meadowlands
so as to pump his team up, ...the Jets players may well be stunned early
themselves. In fact Marvin will likely attempt to score very early through
the air to get out front early and force Sanchez into beating them. Quite
frankly IMHO Sanchez is not near Palmer at this stage of his career. If the
Jets can manage a repeat performance defensively proving that Sunday was not
a bad hair day for the Bengals offense then the game will be interesting
because the Bengals D is the best part of that team and is why they were
able to sweep both the Ravens and the Steelers which is no small task.

Drew,
First of all, congrats to your Boyz and hopefully their short term PO
stay. ;)
Second, who is ranked #1 Total in the NFL in team D?
rj
There is no question whatsoever that the Jets were handed a "Welcome" mat by
the Colts. That the Bengals knew that they had clinched the AFCN before the
game started Sunday night must be considered in the mix. Knowing that may
not have solicited the tanking the Colts offered, but there was no incentive
whatsoever for the Bengals to bring their best game to the Meadowlands.
Be happy for your team for sure and keep in mind that it was your own team's
mistakes that kept them from earning their way through the front door like
ALL of the other contenders. Believing that those mistakes are total history
for a rookie QB and HC in the playoffs is fodder for a broken heart. That
said and regardless of how far the Jets go, ...or don't go..., congrats to
all Jets fans and of course Rex for making it to the playoffs.
Drew,

Hi rj, thanks and congrats to you and the Rayduhs for raising their bar to
make the Ravens earn their Wildcard. You don't by any chance question that
the Ravens earned their way in ... do you ?
That said I do believe the answer to your question is in fact the NY
J-e-t-s, ...the very same team that made so many mistakes that they were
unable to pave their own road into this contest, ...even with the "#1 D in
the NFL". ; )
Only allowing 80 yards rushing denotes suspect run defense to you?
If that is all the rushing yards that the Bengals were to allow the Jets
next weekend Sanchez will have to win the game on his arm and you know full
well the problems that scenario has created.

Mark, I think you'll get this idea. Can you better explain to the folks
here the difference between playing people other than your front guys that
you need to protect and deliberately tanking a game. I can go along with
not playing someone, and even not doiing certain things...but this idea that
a team should just tank, deliberately lose I can't get. You need the guys
who would be on the field in that game, asking them to do anything other
than really play to win I just can't accept. Tell me if I'm way off on
this. Papa Carl
Nope. Won it fair and square IMO.

They won their last two games to confirm their own destiny, no?
Sorry but I can't say the "Y" word respective to how the Jets got in. In
fact I personally feel like leaning more toward the term, ..."forfeit".
However one looks at the way the Jets made it into the playoffs the fact
remains that they are in indeed in the playoffs. Confirmation of destiny
however will come for one of these teams in January when time runs off the
clock in Miami.
No allowing 80 yards to an anemic rushing offense called the Texans is
what makes them suspect. The Texans struggled all year. Thye can't run
the ball.
Stranger stuff has happened Dave. Anything is possible and no team got
to the playoffs by sucking. It's why they play the games.
Dude, I may have said I don't think Brady would be the same QB when he
returned and so far I'd say he hasn't been but I never said he would
be out more than a year. Brady was injured at the beginning of the
season, Welker in the last. That is why I think Welker's rehab will
stretch into next season. If he is ready for camp, I think he makes
sport medical history. Also the position of WR put more demand on the
ACL/MCL than a QB and you could see how tentative Brady was planting
in the beginning. Welker is know for those great crisp routes he runs
and his explosive first step but I have a feeling he will be running
routes that won't be nearly as crisp when he returns and he will be a
lot easier to jam at the line.
As far as the infection goes, I was surprised Brady wasn't monitored
more closely. I hope Welker is.
Ocho got an MRI yesterday and the results were not made public. When
was the last time someone got an MRI for nothing? Hey, let's all get
MRI's. Tailgate in front of North Shore University. I'll bring the
magnetic dye.
Did you watch the game? The Bengals had the S up at the line the
entire first half and they were blitzing their DB's at times.

Uh, the Begals O kind of sucks this season. GO look at the scores.
They really don't put up a lot of points and the passing game is not
very good since TJ is playing in Seattle.

The Begals for sure did not bring the A game and I think the Jets know
that just by not having to face the starters most of the second half,
but I don't think anyone on the field was dogging it because all pro
and even college guys know when you are playing half speed and the
other guy isn't especially when the other guy is a RB who will hit you
or a defensive player whos job it is to hit you, bad things happen
like what happened to Sims.
If it is tendinitis they may want to see what could be causing it but
with this guy who the heck knows. He is great player & seems like a
decent guy but his act would wear me out.

Well, we saw the Colts lose by 23 to the Bills yesterday.
And the Saints lost while starting Mark Brunell at QB -- I thought
he'd retired six years ago.
(Then the Giants... well, not quite the same thing, but....)
I don't think the Bungles tanked like *those* guys did.
I'd guess that they came in trying to win -- if they could while
resting their top RB, letting their top DL players heal, and playing
a vanilla game plan that wouldn't give away anything they could use in
the game that counts next week.
Then early in the game they dropped some passes and a few other big
plays went against them, and the players -- instead of sucking it up
to get back in the game using energy they wanted to save for next week
-- said "to hell with it", with the consequent results.
The Jets deserve legit kudos for never giving up all year when they
could easily have done so (see: "Giants") as long as they had the
faintest of chances, and for delivering 100% in the Bungles game
taking no chances, to lock things up.
*OTOH*, let us not expect to score 37 points this week in Cincy with
Sanchez throwing for only 60 yards, nor expect to see Carson Palmer
hit only 1 of 11.

Haha, yeah I bet you really hope so. You're the biggest doomsdayer
there is when it comes to the Pats.
You were saying last offseason how Brady wouldn't be ready for the
season. You didn't say he'd miss the entire season, but you said he
wouldn't be ready. Not only was he ready for the season, he was present
for all of camp and was probably ready even before that. And I don't
know how you can say he "wasn't the same" when he posted his 2nd most
productive season of his career. Yeah, he had bouts with inconsistency
(as did the entire team...which tells me there were coaching issues),
but when I think of issues with the Patriots, QB doesn't exactly come to
mind.
Anyway, the typical timetable on these things is 6-12 months. There's
NO WAY Welker misses the season. The worst case scenario is PUP. In
fact, given Belichick's tendency for putting players on PUP (even
healthy ones), it's probably the most likely scenario. He likes to
stash guys.
Carl, I would be shocked if any of these teams we're talking about asked
their players to not give it their all. There's no doubt in my mind
that guys like Curtis Painter, Brian Hoyer, etc were playing as hard as
they could -- knowing that they would get very few opportunities to do
so. Also, a guy like BB isn't going to say "Hey guys, don't play 100%".
You know what they say... players who don't play at 100% put
themselves in a position to get hurt.
Having said all that... motivation MUST be a factor. One team is
playing to get into the postseason... the other team is playing for no
reason at all. Even aside from the resting starters thing, that must
have an impact.
I can't believe a coach would ever say "tank it" to his players -- not
in words, at least.
For one thing, I've gotta imagine that not playing hard would be the
easiest way to get hurt -- if you aren't hitting somebody else,
somebody else is hitting you.
Moreover, the subs don't get many chances to play, they have to be
trying 100% to impress and win jobs.
But morale, coordination, teamwork, and belief that you can win are
big parts of performance in competition that is so close.
Imagine you are, say, one of the 2nd-tier starters who stays in the
game after the Colts pull Manning, Freeney and the stars. Now you are
playing with a bunch of scrubs and kids. What happens to the
coordination and teamwork? What happens to your belief that you can
win? What's your morale for the rest of the game?
For the rest of the way, you probably just play "cover your own ass"
football. But what more can you do?
The coach *in words* isn't saying "go lose", he's saying all the right
stuff about playing hard, taking the chance to impress the staff,
pride, and all that.
But *in actions* he really *is* saying "go lose" -- or at least
saying, "I don't care if you lose, this game doesn't matter and I'm
covering my own ass from the firestorm that would land on it if I play
an important player who gets hurt."
How can the players not get that message? If the coach is covering
his own ass rather than take a risk for a pointless win, why won't
they do the same thing? With the results we see.
We all speak in both words and actions at the same time, and when the
two messages conflict, what we say by our actions is always the most
persuasive.
Average recovery time for an ACL seems to be about 9 months. I think
considering Welker shredded his knee and tore both ACL and MCL I think
it will be longer.
If you want to know why I was maybe a little bit of a doom sayer abou
Brady, I don't like and I think he is an A-hole. Welker I do like and
so I am more hopeful he comes out of this OK.
To be honest, I love Ocho and I wish there were more Ocho types and
less Ray Lewis and Bartt Scott types. I hate it when Scott runs his
mouth during a game. Revis is much better at his position than Scott
is at his and you never see a freaking word from him except one time
he got in Moss's face the first meeting.
i like ocho too. usually, i wanna keep listening to him and get a
kick out of it. with scott and especially lewis when they talk i just
want them to shut up fast...
So Herm was wrong....they don't play to win the game. Oh well, I liked the
old way better.
I wish we could here Vince on this subject. That would be interesting. :-)
Well you know Welker will work to return. The problem is his position
and why he is effective. Brady bouncing back in a year was possible
because they braced his knee & he had too run straight back for 80% of
what he did. Everyone is different but 9 months may be cutting it close.
I think your PUP is the most likely scenario.
6-12 IS the timetable they're saying for "shredded" (torn ACL and MCL).
Sprains don't usually require surgery.
I don't understand who you're using as an example here. I can name
Brady and Palmer as examples off the top of my head, and they came back
fairly quickly There's Rodney too, but he's ancient. I can't think
off-hand who else to cite. Which WRs or RBs suffered it recently?
Let's look at how long they took before we start pulling numbers out of
our asses. If we're talking 9 months, then that fits what I was saying
about PUP.
Yeah. No shit, Mr. Obvious. The fact is that the Jets made it into
the POs the same way as your boys. Won their way in. I would tell
you to deal with it, but why?
>Yeah. No shit, Mr. Obvious.
Why are you losing your composure here bud after all, it was you that stated
that the Jets "...confirmed their own destiny...", and I simply pointed out
"the obvious" overstatement that you so "obviously" overlooked in making
that "obvious" overstatement.
>The fact is that the Jets made it into the POs the same way as your boys.
Nope, not a fact at all. The Jets won and got in a far differently way than
did the Ravens. See the
Ravens actually had to play the best players from every team they played for
four quarters. Now the Jets on the other hand won and got in the playoffs by
twice not being the last team to leave the stadium before the game
officially ended. "Obviously", you must recognize the difference.
> (Jets) Won their way in. I would tell you to deal with it, but why?
Why indeed since I have absolutely nothing whatsoever "to deal with"...,
that is of course outside of your penchant for making overstatements and
those demonstrated finger-tip feelings of yours. Chill dude.
...and despite that the Texans only needed some help to get into the
playoffs just like the Jets. Unfortunate that the teams "they played"
refused to lay down.

Actually I got that number from googling ACL and MCL injuries. Fastest
to ever come back was listed (Jerry Rice, 3.5 months) but that was it.
On average they said 9 to 12 months for a severe case.
It'll be interesting to see. You never know, it could be one of those
real bad ones. But everyone was saying Brady's was a real bad one, but
he took what, 7 months? Fortunately for Welker he's still fairly young.
Anyway, PUP will give him until early November or so, which is a
little over 10 months.

I can't see any team wanting to face the Jets. They possess the number
one defense and the number one running offense. the Bengals are on a
decline while the Jets are getting into gear. I don't suppose it'll be
another blowout, but the Jets should win if they don't turn the ball
over.
Just stating the "obvious" Drew. Nothing more.

I guess when you're ahead 37-ZIP you don't need to go all out.

I'm always chill these days bro. Hope you R the same. I also just
hope that what the NFL experts have always preached as the path to
championship destiny is having an NFL top ranked D and Rushing
Offense.
BTW, the Jets still won their way in no matter how you want to spin it.
There are several teams in the playoffs with top ranked defenses and similar
rushing offenses like the Jets and yet not one of them is undefeated. That
means the Jets and similar teams were..., "as a matter of fact", ...beaten
during the regular season. Any and every D in the playoffs is "capable" of
shutting down the Jets rushing game with the appropriet game plan. When that
transpires the Jets will be forced to rely on a rookie QB without NFL
playoff experience who has thrown 20 INTs in 16 games.
> BTW, the Jets still won their way in no matter how you want to spin it.
Sorry rj but the Jets technically did not "earn" the last two wins and you
can pretty much bet that is the view of many more NFL fans than you realize
or would ever care to admit. I'm not a Bengals fan in the least and I do not
dislike the Jets which means I hold no malice and/or have any motive
whatsoever for the creation of spin. I'm merely evaluating what I viewed
last weekend and comparing that with the intimate knowledge of a team and
head coach that I have watched play and coach since the Ravens entered into
the AFCN.

Please advise us as to how many teams with the #1 defense & #1 rushing game
have made it to, or won, a SB with a rookie QB lacking NFL playoff
experience, and whom also has been intercepted 20 times in less than 16
games as they entered into the playoffs?
> the Bengals are on a
> decline while the Jets are getting into gear.
You may be correct about the Bengals however many believe the Jets have not
seen the Bengals best yet. If the Jets in fact did see the Bengals best then
one must realize that no other team in the POs appears to be on the decline.
> I don't suppose it'll be

The Ravens would have two more championship trophies if not for the
intangibles and turning the ball over is only one of them.

Good point. If the Jets win, I'll be more than impressed considering
their rook QB is untested in the big show.

Drew, we've had our differences, but IMO you are a cool guy AFAI am
concerned and I appreciate your insight into the NFL and your opinion
is as valid as anyone's, but as you and I both know, hot teams can
change the mix when it comes to the POs. All I'm saying is that the
Jets are currently on a roll whether you like it or not, and might
make a serious run in the POs IMHO. If not, oh well. I'm not losing
any sleep over it.
Mark, I think I made mention of it but I'll say it again. All Brady
dose is take 3 or 5 steps backwards, maybe does a little shift to the
left or right to get a better throwing lane and steps up to pass. That
is not putting any real stress on the knee even without the brace he
wears. What Welker demands of the ACL and MCL to do what he does is
night and day. It is quite possible if Welker had the exact same
injury as Brady, his rehab could have been a lot longer. Running in a
straight line is nothing.
I think you underestimate the importance of the left knee to a
right-handed QB.
You mean like the year when Namath threw with his right foot forward?
:)
Actually I think the MCL is a bigger issue on the left knee.
The big issue with rehab & recovery is luck. Does a guy slip in the
shower, get banged into, etc.? I don't think anyone would say that here
is a player alive that would outwork Welker in rehab.

LMAO. No matter, I'm hoping for the best for the Jets. They're the
only team I have going for me as long as Al draws a breath.
Anyway, good luck to your ratters too. But not too good. ;)
