Got calls from two different Jets reps begging me to come back to seasons
tix. Tried to throw all sorts of incentive plans at me. The first guy
simply just got dismissed because he said I already had a rep assigned to
me. While trying to reach my rep, he weaved around a complicated song and
dance about the value of the seat in the world's most "state of the art"
stadium with the best food and entertainment ladidah ladidah... I told him
I'm a football fan, I like to watch football not people in stands.

Anyways, my "persoanl" rep came on and started to blurt out the same drivle.
I obliged for a short while and then eventually cut him off mid-sentence and
said "exactly what do the PSL's get me?" immediately followed by "if I get
a right to that seat and a concert comes to town, who gets the seat? the
Giants PSL owner fan or me?" The guy danced around the question like a bad
used car salesman. "But we have 5 year plans to pay the licence, that's
only $160.00 per game for the same seat as what you had in the current
stadium". So I asked, "does that $160.00 per game include the ticket price
for the same seat?". Again, more dancing around.

Then I asked, "what about that **take a tour of the stadium and we'll give
you two tickets to a game in 2010** promotional email that was sent out a
couple months ago?". He answered, "that stadium tour is still available.
Would you like me to book one for you?". I asked him to clarify if it would
include two tickets to a game next season. He said, "that was a one time
promotion". I continued, "I sent in my snail mail AND email request for the
tour and never heard from you guys". More dancing interrupted by "the
tickets is the dangling carrot that MIGHT convince me to consider coming
back. Getting rid of the PSL's would help too. Anything else means that
we're done with this conversation"

Guy said, "we hear a lot of that" and he hung up frustrated.

Fifteen minutes on the phone with these guys, hard sell from start to
finish, no questions about what would I like to see happen? No "real"
incentives to offer and worse off, rather than wishing I could somehow make
it work and return, I left with a worse opinion that ever...

FWIW, for my seat which was 10 rows from the field in section 102 (west end
zone), a ticket will now cost $125.00 + the $20.00 parking + a $5000.00 PSL
per seat. I had two seats at $75.00 per ticket when I left in 2008.

I did a quick comparative calculation. Since they offered a 5 year plan to
pay the PSL at $160.00/seat/game that's $305.00/seat/game (PSL, ticket,
parking) for 10 games a year (yes we would still have to buy the pre-season)
for 5 years for a total payout of $15,250.00 or $30,500 for two tickets.
And that assumes that the parking pass will stay at $20.00 which it likely
won't.

Compare that to (2008 prices) $75.00 per seat per game and $20.00 parking
pass per game. For 2 tickets that's $190.00 for 10 games a year over 5
years or $9,500 for two tickets.

To watch the same team, the same product, the same number of games the
increase is a mere 300%+ increase...

That must be SOME stadium they've built...

WOW. I took a downstairs PSL, They are having trouble selling
them. I wonder when the last time the Jets were blacked out in NY
for a non-sellout? Could it happen next year?

On another note, some sports writer was expousing his conspiracy
theory..... NFL asked Polian to pull starters. NFL needs to help
Jets sell tickets. What better way to help than to get them into the
Post Season. I blew it off as crybaby syndrome, but ya never know....

Polian controls too much of the NFL to be pushed around like that.

A lot of sports writers are desperate to fill space with any crap they
can get by with.

Polian's been doing this for years, so he may feel the need to do
annual charity work for the entire league, but he wasn't doing any
special favor for the Jets.

Did the league tell him to help the Bills sell tickets last week?
