They stacked the box the entire first half on Sunday and we ran right
through them. If I'm Schott I do exactly the same thing as Sunday
until they stop it. If the Defensive line of Cin continues to get
blown off the LOS Sunday, nothing will change.

Agree 100 %. The playoff game will be very much like what we just
saw, but less drastic as Cincy will bring their "A" game. Still...
The Jets win the LOS on defense and offense. Not much passing as the
ball will be like a rock, much like at the Meadowlands with Edwards
and Ocho. No way will Rex take a chance on letting Sanchez throw over
20 times unless they get behind by two scores.

I think you will see quite a few slant plays. I think they restrict the
roll outs with Sanchez as the passes get riskier across the field.
Rex mentioned in the post-game press conference that Brad Smith can
throw the ball hinting that is possible. I bet you will see him rolling
out with a limited passing menu.

Does it concern you that the running backs only averaged 3.5 yards a
carry? If they figure out how to stop Brad Smith, the running game
might have more trouble..

I don't know how that caused him to mis-time his jump for the ball. He
has all the physical ability in the world but seems to lack the
instincts.

Burf, short passes against a stacked box, especially flares and WR
screens don't work because the D is in terrific position to start.
If it is not too windy, it may be time for a flea flicker, a play action
up and in or up and out pass or even a fly off a fake WR screen.
But Cincy's Qbs are very tuff and Shott has not shown the touch,
accuracy and judgement to assure a happy ending.
IOW, while I agree with you of the need to open it up early if we are to
do so at all, I think Rex puts it all on his D.
