Video highlights from a 1950 preseason game

The Giants beat the Rams 24-14 in a Thursday night exhibition game at
the Polo Grounds; a fundraiser for the Fresh Air Fund.

This was the same Rams team that went on to set the NFL scoring record
before losing 30-28 to the Browns in the NFL title game. The Giants
beat them here with some big play defense including a key interception
and return from Emlen Tunnell. Glenn Davis scored a TD for the Rams
and punched a fan after the game because the fan swiped his helmet.

The 1950 Giants went on to tie for first in their conference with the
Browns. But since there was no tie-breaker system in those days, the
Giants had to play the Browns even though the Giants had beaten them
in both regular season games, 6-0 in Cleveland and 17-13 in New York.
The "third time was the charm" as the Giants lost that playoff game,
8-3. That set up the Browns win over the Rams for the championship.
