That's the back page headline. It's about Sheridan...

The Giants should hand the headset to Antonio Pierce for the remainder
of the season. Couldn't be any worse.

We've been fighting injuries since summer camp started. Seems every year we
have lots of hammies that limits time by rookies especially.

1. Wonder what impact the strength and conditioning coach/off season program
has.
2. Favre comes back-no training camp-great season so far... Stray comes in
late in '07, no training camp-great season.
3. Maybe preseason games should be for rooks trying to make the roster. Camp
should be more like the old days...... guys came in to get into game shape.

Just wondering if players need less work instead of frequent full pads.

I wish but the Giants is a loyal organization to its own people.
Sheridan worked up the ranks and that means he will get every bit of
the chance to turn it around, and yes that includes the 2010 season.

Kiss Big Blue Defense good bye.

I believe there's a league-wide problem in gross overtraining with
weights. None of these coaches seem to do anything scientific.
Everybody just does some variation of what the other guys are doing.
Why? Because so-and-so does it. Because somebody said so.

I don't know how long it will take, but one of these days in the
future, some gutsy strength and conditioning coach is going to have
the nerve to go against the accepted protocols and change the way
these guys resistance train, and he will base his program on the
results of studies.

This maverick of a coach will have them in the weight room using
Nautilus type machines in safe, brief, high-intensity, low-force
workouts (consisting of about five total sets) about once a week or
less, and predominantly in the offseason or preseason. Starting in
September, they'll train even less frequently, or not at all, until
the season is over. The result will be stronger durable football
players with less injuries and no overtraining. After that, we'll see
everybody switching over.
