How come Detroit gets to play Thanksgiving every year but very few
other teams do?

Do the Pats get to play on Thanksgiving every 10 years?

Detroit wants to and other teams {except the cowboys} don't.
it's no different than the Red Sox having the morning game every Patriots
Day.
