These things are hard to measure, but most of the Patriots players know what
it takes to become a champion. Hunger is another intangible. Does being
champion increase the Pats hunger or decrease it?

Conversely, does being a champion make it harder to accept defeat?
While I don't know whether defending a championship or being a former
champion makes you any hungrier than a chronic loser, I believe
strongly that losing becomes less acceptable and more painful after
you've scaled the heights.
From what I have seen in all major professional sports, defending
champions take losing harder than teams that are relatively recent
contenders. Once you've imbibed the world's finest wines, you're
reluctant to chug twist-top bottles of Thunderbird.

I agree with you about ST, and I agree NY should be higher in WR, but only 3rd.
The Jets WRs have less receptions and yards than the Bills or Pats.

You misunderstand, David. Repeating as a Super Bowl champion isn't
easy. With the salary cap, there's incredible parity in the NFL, and
it's exceedingly difficult to win consistently. So, no, I am not
saying that a championship NFL team is likely to repeat the next
season. Quite the contrary, in fact.
The point I was trying to make is that teams that have won it all will
do everything possible not to return to the land of losers. That
doesn't mean a champion will win repeatedly season after season, but
it does mean they won't go down without a ferocious fight. If the Pats
lose the division or get eliminated in the playoffs, it won't be for
lack of effort, hunger, or passion. If they lose, they'll lose because
they're just not good enough.
I'm expecting a top-flight effort from them for the remainder of the
season.

What would have happened last year if you went through this same
exercise with the pats vs. any team they played in the playoffs?
Oakland, Pitts, Stl would have beaten them in most categories also.
You can't account for heart, desire, ability to rise when the games on
the line. Rank them any way you want. The Pats are the only team in
this group to prove they can do it when it matters most, and until
proven otherwise, I'll take that over this "fantasy football"
approach.
