The interesting part, as I read it, Miami is favored against the Bills
once - at home - and the Jets are favored both games against Miami -
home and away. Really?

Seems way early for point spreads.

IMHO the Jets have regressed and should be less proficient in 2013 than
in 2012. They kept the same idiot head coach and changed some pieces
around him. They auctioned off their best player and not only kept as
their de facto starter a QB who has proven that he doesn't play well
with others, but then they packed in a kid who is clearly not ready to
start but whose name is going to be on the lips of every NYJ fans the
moment Sanchez makes any mistake.

I suppose there are plenty of people who can tear down what the Dolphins
have set about doing and dismiss every move as window dressing. Me, I
think they should be significantly better in 2013 overall - though they
may struggle early with so many new starters.

Yes, the opposite could happen and we could see (gag) the Jets in the
playoffs as the Dolphins watch on TV. I just can't imagine betting any
of my money on any game from this distance. I do bad enough week to
week in the season.

The point spread, much like our US Constitution, is a living,
breathing thing. What you're seeing in May is a "teaser" point spread
designed to generate action. Later, when all the action is lop-sided
towards the intentionally skewed side of the spread, they'll change
the line to generate more action on the other side of the bet. When
all is said and done, they'll be sitting on a pile of cash bet, 10% of
which is guaranteed to go in their pockets. Long live King Vigorish!

The actual spreads didn't interest me as much as the Jets being favored
in both games, whether one point or ten. If that stands (which I
doubt), I suspect a ot of Dolphin fans will take that bet.

Sure, Dolphins fans will take the bet as presented today. When they
change it, Jets fans will jump on the other side of the bet. THAT IS
BY DESIGN. Point spreads have nothing to do with who is most likely
to win, they have everything to do with generating action on both
sides to guarantee a profit for those providing the action.

I say you are just as likely to hit the jackpot on the Florida lotto.
Now if that isn't enough of nothing, go for the local Blockbuster, keep
the $$$ in Florida. :-)

The race is not always to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but
that's the way to bet.

In most betting shops you will see three windows marked "Bet Here,"
but only one window with the legend "Pay Out."
