I was glad the AFC won but it was a pitiful, phony game, lacking many of the
people who were the biggest stars of the season. And I think it truly sucks
that Miami got both a Pro Bowl and a Super Bowl. Personally I don't think
Florida deserves much of anything, except a gargantuan backhoe to dig a
channel along the border between it and the United States, and a letter
stating that their request to secede has been belatedly accepted.
What they need to do to make it up to you islanders is to have the Super
Bowl, **followed** by a correctly timed Pro Bowl, in Hawaii, just as soon as
humanly possible.
It occurred to me that this situation has got to feel utterly weird in your
part of the world, like if you just totaled your car yesterday and suddenly
found yourself walking. This AFC deserter (Who Dey!) thinks you got screwed
royally.

You're asking the wrong guy. I haven't so much as watched that game
in about 16 years, let alone go to one. Last year SacD brought a crew
out and I didn't even go with them (turns out they didn't make it all
the way in either!). And I certainly run with an odd crowd out here
so it shouldn't surprise that I've not heard Peep One out of them
either. Our Douchebag Lt Gov is up in arms about it and creating a
"panel" to bring the game back, so on and so forth.
That's a fucking stellar idea though, bring the SB to HI. Just one
thing: Aloha Stadium's a fucking pile of shit. If part of the gig is
the NFL showcasing homes, ours is friggin' Sanford and Son

IMO, no one should give a fuck about the stadium. The Super Bowl is a
weeklong event, a vacation, a party and the game only last 3 and a half
hours.
The NFL only uses the stadium issue to try and blackmail municipalities into
providing public funds for private stadia. If they didn't have that gravy
train to worry about, there would never be a Super Bowl in a cold weather
locale.

It's a fairly well known fact.
Jacksonville and Detroit got Super Bowls in the last 5 years because they
built new stadiums with public money.
They didn't pick those locales based upon the ability to throw a good Super
Bowl Week. The press was especially pissed off about Jacksonville. It's a
bit of a backwater and didn't have the hospitality infrastructure to support
an event of that magnitude well.

Granted, the stadium is part of the hospitality infrastructure, but a case
can't be made that many other cities cannot exceed Jacksonville's
suitability for hosting by a wide margin. The stadium is the only thing
Jacksonville has that meets the criteria. All other criteria, including the
very important "adequate number of hotel rooms within a reasonable distance
of the facility" were not met. The NFL gave Jacksonville the SB because the
city spent public money for the stadium.
Nothing against Florida. Miami is more than suitable.
