So who's spot is he going to take?
Is this a position of high need?

Yeah, I've been confused by that as well. Why is this signing
necessary -- especially if it means the loss of a young player (assuming of
course, but while we are on that: it better not be Hillis)?
Marlin Jackson, CB, Bob Sanders, Safety, both out for the Season ....
Kelvin Hayden, CB, out 3-4 Weeks.
Xavier, McD, and Nolan have seen something we haven't - with that said,
I certainly wouldn't release Hillis for an older DB with 52 INT's in 14
years; 2 in his last year with the Jets -- heck, those Stats give or
take an INT with "1/2 a Season over" weighs him in @ 1 INT for this
Season ..or.. averagng his 14 years 1.5 INT's for this <remaining>
Season ...........
Someone COULD BE hurt that we don't know about <in the Secondary> and
maybe that's the reasoning .... makes sense.
It COULD BE subtraction by addition < Indy has 3 DB's hurt, 2 out for
the Season -- Sanders out for the year, one other name escapes me right
now, and Hayden is out 3-4 weeks > ..... Indy MIGHT HAVE considered Ty
-- X, McD, and Nolan "blocked Indy" ....... and not exactly a WASTED
pick-up, worst case scenario Ty is an excellent "backup">.
There's a reason for everything they say, and there IS a reason we
picked up Ty ... anyone care to be a fly on the wall of the Bronco
Coaches Meeting ?????????????????
I wouldn't, though, release Hillis .... unless.... there is something
going on with him we aren't privvy to - and that happens < can't pick up
new system, injury, MAYBE attitude, etc >.
We'll know next week <hehehe>.
B~R~O~N~C~O~S !!
Players on IR aren't counted as part of the roster, so cutting Jackson
or Sanders wouldn't help. Also, if I recall, teams aren't allowed to
cut players while they're injured unless they reach an injury
settlement (i.e., the team basically pays the player to be allowed to
cut him), so that would rule out Hayden as well.

That's a pretty good point. I think the main reason is probably
Clark's point about covering the third receiver, but it doesn't hurt
at all to keep a good DB away from Indy at this point.
I'm assuming Law would be a nickel back or something similar, which
would be a good role for him. Even at 35 years old, a guy with five
Pro Bowls is great to have for that kind of situational work.
Sensible.
When I first heard this I was a little worried that the Broncos were
signing someone who's been unemployed for the first half of the
season. But the DPO article on Law's signing says that he's been
keeping himself in playing shape this season and he'd be ready if the
"right team" called. Presumably that means that at his age, he didn't
feel like getting beat up week after week playing for Washington or
Oakland or whoever.
If he was only willing to play for a team that he thought had a real
playoff shot, that makes me feel a lot better about the fact that he
hasn't been working until now.
Ty Law... great!
Great for the rest of the AFCW, that is. He wasn't good enough for the
Chiefs, what's that tell ya? He's cooked.
Good luck with that.

For now I think I'll trust McDaniels' judgement over the Chiefs'.

Depending on the cost.
I wonder if, assuming Williams clears waivers, they resign him to the practice
squad and cut one of the current PS players.
The Chefs just picked up the Chargers-waived Chris Chambers, so using
your logic . . . .
Ty Law was dumped well before the season started, and he was a highly
questionable player all last season. Chambers just came off an active roster
position.
But forget logic, because obviously with only one TD catch to show for his
first game as a Chief, he must be cooked, right?
Ty Law is a desperation move, plain and simple. I'm not sure for the reason
for the desperation, but I bet we'll find out.

I saw Williams get really turned around against Baltimore, and Law
looked good last night.
He did OK, really.
He factored well too.
Jack Williams - cut.
Lol, how'd that work out?
Give him time. He's got about a third of a season in him, if that.
MBKC
Since he's nickel package only, we'll have to see.
Clear as day though, Williams and Smith were getting worked over.
