Iam so happy I cried when I learned that Pat Sommeral was alive.
As far as the game goes.....every game we win at this point we lose a
spot in the draft.

Just another win, against a horrible team, that will make the
sheep/Bengals fans return and think it will change. Mike Brown has an
erection for the first time in months. He knows if we get remotely
around .500 he won't have to make changes and spend extra money on a
real coaching staff or GM.

Yep. I hate to root against the Bengals, and wouldn't do so based solely on
draft position. But I will root against them winning a few meaningless
games against thoroughly horrible teams that will make some people think
Lewis has "righted the ship" enough to save his job. I want the Bengals to
lose out in the hopes of cleaning house among the coaches and getting some
competent ones in here. No other team in the NFL would put up with this
underachieving for this many years from a shitty coach. I especially hope
the Dolphins beat the Bengals on the last weekend (and fingers crossed, with
the Dolphins still winless) to show how bad this team really is.
And besides, that was a horrible game, and the fact it was even remotely
close shows how utterly shitty this Bengal team is. And now Palmer is a
detriment, rather than a bright spot. Just un-fucking-believable that they
made Brock Berlin look like a serviceable NFL QB.
Go 49ers!!! (man that hurts to say, but not as much as another season of
Marvin-ball will hurt...)

cannot get excited about beating a 3-9 team on our home field. The

1) Honestly I'm glad they won - this team SHOULD (notice the emphasis)
be good enough to go to the playoffs and a playoff team SHOULD be able
to beat a team like the Rams on a BAD DAY. The defense looked good
for the 5th straight game and handled a team they should have handled.
2) I'm sick of the "We could have drafted Steven Jackson" shit. The
fact is when Chris Perry has played he's changed the dynamic of this
offense more than CH15 does. Has he been injured? Hell yes, does he
qualify as a bust - to a degree Yes - but not because he's been a
shitty player (see A. Smith), but because he's been injured.
Chris Perry was not drafted to replace Rudi, who EVERYBODY wanted to
be the starter and to dump C.Dillon, he was drafted to compliment Rudi
and to give the offense a 1-2 punch (see J. Brooks / I. Woods) behind
the line. With that goal in mind Steven Jackson did not fit the
profile of this offense.
Is Steven Jackson a stud? Hell yes and hindsight being what it is, I'd
give Rudi and Perry up for him, but the draft was what it was, Cincy
traded down (got S. Andrews out of it too) so they wouldn't have to
pay Perry as much.

By the way - my comments on the defense doesn't include the fact that
I still think MAJOR changes need to made /added and that Chucky B
should be fired... several weeks ago.

I guess its kind of a moot point at this stage. What is it with this team
and its inability to get it done in the red zone? They had to kick 4 field
goals. Don't get me wrong, anytime your team wins, you'll take it.

Yeah - what's really bad was early in the season they were scoring in
the Red Zone near 100% with about 75% of those being TDs, but that is
TOTALLY reversed now.

The defense looked Ok. I mean, that was Brock berlin they were up against,
and that guy couldn't keep his job even in college. He still made a few
plays against this defense, and Holt often got open. Really, the big
difference between now and earlier in the season is that they finally, after
about half a season, learned how to tackle. There's no excuse for that.

Not sure what the difference is. If anything, an injury prone player is
worse. He can't get on the field. At least with Akili Smith you knew what
you had and could plan accordingly. I'm so tired of this hope that Perry
can be relied upon just to watch him get hurt again every god damned year.
Cut your losses. I'm not sure about the cap hit, but I think this team is
just flat out better without him around. He's either just an accident
waiting to happen or soft, neither of which this team needs.

It's not just the "we could have had Steven Jackson" thing (although, man
does Perry look like a nightmare of a pick in comparison), but the fact that
you just DO NOT draft a complimentary-type RB in the first round when you
have glaring needs all over the roster (and usually not even when you
don't). Perry is a John Avery that can't get on the field.

Well, the good news is that in this coming draft they can go for any
position there is and no one can bitch that it wasn't a need pick. They
pretty much need everything.
