Ok, not to get everyone's hopes up, but ESPN 1000 in Chicago mentioned a rumor that the U of Michigan was considering pursuing Marvin Lewis to be their next head coach, presumably contingent on his firing at the end of the NFL season. Not much to substantiate this, but the hosts of the show (the Jurko, Mac and Harry Show) also used the opportunity to ridicule Lewis and his shitty record with the Bengals and his penchant for having players arrested. Needless to say, I was excited by the news, but they were just incredulous that Michigan would want the bum (and in that way, I agreed)...

Please, please, please let it not be a rumor...

I heard this a little bit ago on FSR from someone calling in from Michigan.
I have some mixed feelings about this.
1.OSU might own Michigan for a long time to come. 2.As a OSU fan I would love to root AGAINST Marvin. 3.Who would the Bengals replace Marvin with?
I really do not believe Marvin is the #1 enemy of the team, try ownership first.
Watching Thursday night football tonight I learned that Paul Brown was one of THREE people to go into the Hall Of Fame and still be involved in the NFL after the fact.
The Browns are doing this team and the family name such a injustice.

I hear Marty Schottenheimer (sp?) is available. He's been one of the few retread coaches who actually does well every where he goes. (IIRC)

I still like Marvin, but.... I agree he's not the #1 enemy.

I think "The Browns" is ONLY Mike. If he steps down, dies, or whatever... you'll see Katie Blackburn take over and hire a GM.

I heard this as a rumor again on FSR this morning. To elaborate on a previous post,I was under the assumption that the Browns would take over if anything happened to Mikie, considering their positions in the organization and being family. I just assumed they were "ownership" as well. I hope Iam wrong.

What makes you think that? Genetics?

You know the old saying: talent always skips a generation. :^)

There you go. But honestly there have been several long-term Bengal players that have negotiated with her and Troy and they always seem very pleased with how she treats them and is up front, etc.
