Yeah, it's in Tempe, but ASU hasn't been playing all that well lately.
Cal has a bit of an Achilles' heel away from Bezerkly, but I think
they'll still prevail... Cal 28, ASU 14.

> USC at OREGON

Pac-10 game of the year... until the winner plays Arizona :) Nothin'
but a homerkook pick here. USC 31, UO 21.

> UCLA at OREGON STATE

Punting is winning. The bruins will win, big. As for the game: Beavs
38, bruins 10.

> Washington State vs. Notre Dame (@San Antonio)

The refs aren't needed this week. Domers 42, Cougs 7.

not looking forward to this just because I came in #1 last week and am
doomed to be #20 this time out. In fact, you might look at these as
reference for what won't happen.

CALIFORNIA at ARIZONA STATE
Cal is playing better, is a better team but what the heck happened in
their blowout losses? This is a reluctant pick for Cal, 27-23

USC at OREGON
uh-oh. What do I think will happen, based on what I've seen so far
from these teams? A Duck win and possibly by double digits. What do I
fear? A Trojan romp. If the Duck defense steps up this could even be a
rout. But if I predict that, don't I hex Oregon? What to do.....ok,
cementing my 20th place for the week, Ducks will win 38-17.

UCLA at OREGON STATE
Shouldn't be much of a contest. Beavers 28-10.

Washington State vs. Notre Dame (@San Antonio)

This one is up to Charlie Weis. Will he run it up? Let's say Domers
45-13.

ugh.....

Cal - 33, ASU - 24

The Bears offense has been clicking. The fact their QB Riley has stepped up
his passing performance has opened up the rushing game and helped Best break
loose. The Sun Devils are the conference's most up and down team. They are
hard to figure out. Their D is good but not good enough to slow Cal down
this week.

> USC at OREGON

USC - 38, UO - 24

War time! The Trojans win with O-line dominance and a relentless attack
against the Duck defense. WR Williams will have a huge night receiving and
on punt returns. UO will need Masoli to pass well above his season average
to keep this one close. USC will fix the pass D in the short middle which
will mean UO TE Dickson will be held under control. Watch for more blitz
packages to keep the spread offense from generating many yards. Fight On!

> UCLA at OREGON STATE

OSU - 41, UCLA - 17

I'm done picking the Bruins. The only people more disappointed in them than
me is their own fans. Can you believe their most highly touted player is
the punter? The Beavers will roll at home with way too much offense for the
boys in powder blue to stop. Between Canfield passing and the Rodgers
brothers running the OSU balanced O will have a career day. The lackluster
UCLA offense will make the Beavers D look much improved.

> Washington State vs. Notre Dame (@San Antonio)

ND - 51, WSU - 20

The Cougars should score a few against the Irish defense, but not much.
Even on a neutral field they will have little chance to pull the upset since
they won't be able to stop the ND offense. QB Claussen will put up big
numbers to get back into Heisman talk. I won't be surprised if the Domers
generate more than 600 yards of offense against the WSU defense. It will
just be a matter of when ND calls off the dogs and stops padding their
statistics. It's all about the BCS, right?

Their flag-waving fans are more likely to show up on College Gameday
in Eugene 9 Yawn. Who are we playing again? 44

Here we are at Embarrassment to Cal Fan Prognosticators Everywhere HQ,
hoping to have one of those weeks with a ray of sunshine that make the
whole thing worthwhile - but deep down, knowing better. Again,
apologies to all who's picks have been rendered impotent by
unintentional similarities to those below.
