There is a mandatory Thursday game this week, the Civil War, so I
thought I'd get the schedule out today. If you miss the Civil War for some
reason, you can still pick the Saturday games, but the Civil War counts in
your score whether you pick it or not.
The winner of the Dec 3/5 games, and the winner of Rivalry Week(s)
will be posted on Sunday the 6th. After I double check everything one last
time, we'll have our le' Grande Champione banquet on Dec 7. Non-formal wear
OK this year, although I encourage Jack to break out the purple sequin pimp
suit again - was a big hit last year.

Hi Sean,

I didn't go 4 - 0 last week, I wanted the Bruins over SC. Please adjust

THU DEC 3
OREGON STATE at OREGON
Two years agothe Beavs won when the Ducks lost Dixon (who looked good
the other night, didn't he?). Last year the Ducks won when the Beavers
were without Quizz. This year both teams are healthy if you don't
count Moevao. Is that even close to being spelled right? Anyway...the
deciding factor should be Autzen. Over the course of the season Oregon
has the better "body of work" but Oregon State is playing its best
ball now. Here goes nothing...

Ducks by 38-30

SAT DEC 5
ARIZONA at USC

I think Arizona is better but this is a tough one to call. USC thinks
it can get a BCS game with a win although I don't see how that could
happen. But that's a motivator. On the other hand, Arizona could have
gone to the Rose Bowl if they'd won out so maybe motivation is
overrated. Ok...if Arizona is better then I better pick them. 28-21 is
the call.

CALIFORNIA at WASHINGTON
Cal will thrash Washington. The Huskies are at least a season away
from being a good team. I say Bears by 35-14.

Good luck to all, especially Kat.

I thought about picking all upsets as that's probably my only chance
of catching the leaders, but I don't really think that's going to
happen in any of the games. I'd just as soon stay in a reasonably
close position than fall back further, so here's my last gasp
selections.

Try to see what Eric and Kat are picking so I know if I need to go
"opposite" in my attempts to move up from 3rd place.

Cool, Eric is picking Oregon, so I'll go OSU on that one. I see he's
also going for the upset call with Arizona, so I'll stick with the
safe USC choice and hope the upset does not happen. As for Cal, we'll
both end up being right or wrong.

Kat is going to be a late poster, so I cannot anti-pick against her.

You know? I have absolutely no idea on any of these games, so let's
start with the easy 'I don't pick against my Bears' pick. Although
there's a ton of reasons my Bears shouldn't pull it out, but there's
tons of reasons we shouldn't have beat AZ and Stanford, so...
Cal 28, UW 24

Now, AZ-USC. Huh. Lemme think. AZ's a bit beat up, but (not
counting the long bomb at the end) USC only put up 21 on the Bruins.
Of course, they held the Bruins to 7, but AZ's a better offense, and
would be perfect in the Pac, probably, except for three odd
deflections -- off the foot, off the DE, off the goalpost and in.
Game's at the Coliseum. Ugh, this is hard...
AZ 31, USC 28

And the one I really don't want to pick. OSU's playing good football
right now, but the Ducks rarely lose in front of the Autzen crazies.
So I'm going wiht the Ducks in a tight game
Oregon 31, OSU 30

And that should do it. Good luck everybody.

had me flopping with Arizona-USC. I'm fully expecting an 0-3 week,

The Ducks have struggled against teams with balanced offensive attacks. The
Beavers show lots variety in how they run their offensive sets to disguise
their basic plays that work for them. OSU QB Canfield can get a hot hand if
he is protected and that should translate to him exploiting the UO
secondary. Controlling Duck QB Masoli is a challenge but if the Beavers can
force him to make quick decisions they will win the TOP battle. I think
coach Riley will have his team ready to excel despite all the Autzen
crazies. Gonna be fun to watch what happens!

ARIZONA at USC

USC - 31, UA - 17

These are not your mid-season Trojans who struggled on offense. With the
starting WR, TE, and C back off injuries USC will strike early and often to
get out front and then play their seniors late in the game. The Wildcats O
has to rely on their passing game to get them moving and that will put
pressure on Foles. A couple of hasty throws under pressure and the TO's
will cost them field position and scores. The Trojans salute their seniors
and Fight On!

CALIFORNIA at WASHINGTON

Cal - 38, UW - 27

The Bears defend the run effectively and slow down the Huskies offensive
strength. After a brief emotional let down Cal gets a wake up call and
outlasts UW for a fairly close win. The Huskies will be playing for pride
and treat this like their bowl game. The Bears are just better and have too
much talent on both sides of the ball. That will be the difference and
determine the outcome.
