FSGP 2009 FINAL RESULTS

massage oil, cheap champagne, goat hair and Corinthian leather do NOT mix
very well, and incurred an extra charge. Now I don't know what happened,
and I'm not one to make judgements; but next time, please cover the
upholstrey first). Alright, go ahead and take your seat so we can begin.
Once again, it was a fun year, great mix of old time FSGPers and some
folks just jumping aboard, glad to have you all around. Looking forward to
"seeing" you all again.
To present a few special awards, I'd like to call to the podium, Mr
Jim Harba .... what ... South Bend?!? What's he...oh. Well, no problem,
I'll do it.
First, we had 2 prognosticators pick a perfect game this year, Ricky
for ASU-Georgia and Jack for USC-Arizona. Nice work fellas.
The best weekly score of the year went to the most suave, charming,
and brightest of the bunch; this guys really knows his stu.... no, sit down
Mullins, I'm talking about me. I hit a 27.43 on Oct 31 . Lots of good it
did me, but hey, I'll take it.
The best winning percentage went to Eric, who picked the winner
78.67% of the time. We'll talk more about him later.
OK, enough BS, onto the final standings. (in reverse order for
dramatic effect).

3rd place goes to: Plaidmoon. The 2007 FSGP Champion went 55-20, and
racked up 2024 points for a score of 16.87 . This is Plaidmoon's third
consecutive year on the medal stand (also placed 3rd last year), earning
him...well, nothing really. But congrats Plaidmoon, ya dun good.
now the final 2 this year were seperated by the TINIEST of margins
allowable; .01. Yes, one hundredth of a point. In fact, it was less than
that when carried out to 6 decimal places: 17.440367 to 17.433333. That is
.007034 seperating first and second. YOWZA.
But 1/100 is 1/100, SO, in second place:
Eric. Eric went 59-16 , and got 2092 points for a score of 17.43 .
Eric also won the most Weeklies this year, with 3. This was Eric's first
FSGP, and his first time on the medal stand (duh.) Congrats Eric, it was a
hell of a run.
And now, the moment we've been waiting for - Patrick, get the belt
ready; spot light, drum roll ... no drums?...OK, everyone, bang on the
tables
our Fantastical Grandimonious Spectaculacious Prognosticator for 2009
Kat . Kat went 53-16 and totalled 1901 points, for a score of 17.44 ,
beating Eric by the aforementioned .007034 . But that's enough. From this
moment on, Kat will be forever known as ASCP's 2009 Fantastical
Grandimonious Spectaculacious Prognosticor (I bet some of you wondered what
FSGP meant...). This is Kat's second time on the medal stand, with a third
place finish in 2005. Congratulations Kat, I knew ya had it in yaz.

Yes, you did indeed call the UCLA-UO score perfectly, I apologize
for missing that, Mike. (most everything is now automated, but that
isn't - yet; I just went through the season loking for 50s, missed that
one. It's not the speed, I just wish I hadn't drunk so much cough syrup
this morning...)

there were so many close games. I'm going to break out a bottle of
three year old Ripple that I have been saving for a big occasion!

It's Kat's world and we are just spectators :) Congrats!

PS. Hmmm... last year it was Pat, this year it is Kat, next year it
will be... um, we need another name that rhymes :)

As the old philosopher once said, 3rd place is just 2nd loser. Just
kidding. It was a really tough season to figure out as none of the
teams were very consistent except perhaps Washington State. I'm
pleased to do well enough to finish third as I struggled at times.
Like last year, I'll stand ready to step in as 2nd alternate champion
and fulfill the duties of the office FSGP Champion in the event that a
bizarre zeppelin accident or an unfortunate incident involving
marmosets and malted milk balls makes that necessary.

Congratulations Kat! You deserved to win as you made a number of picks
that wished I had the nerve to do but couldn't quite do (mostly
involving Cal).
Thanks once again for running FSGP, Sean. It's one of the highlights
of the college football season. I'll look forward to more
forecasticating in the 2010 season.
