Boy, KB wins my nomination for Rookie Game LVP. He almost singlehandedly
lost the game for the West. Could he have ignored his teammates MORE?
Could he have forced up MORE improbable shots? Allowed MORE points
through defensive gambling? And ironically, TNT chose HIM to speak for
the rookies against the charge of being the NBA's "me generation". Yech.

Um, no.
>Could he have forced up MORE improbable shots?
Again, I'm pretty sure it's a no.

Guess what...that's right! No!
Well Paul, I know you're asking rhetorical questions, but I agreed
wholeheartedly. That kid needs a good spanking. Well, maybe not, but
someone needed to sit him down and tell him to quit being such a
ballhog.

I saw Kobe elevate against two defenders while SAR stood wide
open.
Then I looked at the box score from www.nba.com: 31 pts, a new
record and tops of the game. Kobe also led in turnovers, 7. 7 turnovers
in a 30 minute game. That's just bad.

I'm glad a number of other people noticed. Bryant
lost the game for the west. It's sad that someone
who makes all the players around him worse gets so
much attention. I'm just glad he didn't get MVP.
The few times Reef took the ball to the hoop he
looked pretty damn good. He needs to really work
on his outside shooting though.

The highlight for me was when Nash took the ball down court, dished a
no-look pass to Reef, who finished with a smooth one-handed jam.
*Oooohs & Aaaahs from the crowd*. Sweet.

It was a sad sight, with Iverson actually coming off as an unselfish team
player, which was kind of nice. Did Roy look like he wasn't ready or
what? Was he favouring the knee?

Yep, Iverson did deserve MVP, do doubt about it. He played a nice game.
What was really galling was the CNN and TNT announcers gooing and gawing
"Oh, that Kobe Bryant, what a performance, 31 points, he should really
have been MVP." Whatever. Iverson demonstrably helped his team win, he's
MVP. Bryant demonstrably helped his team lose, he's LVP.
Everyone wants to pick the next Jordan, and sign him to $30 million in
shoe contracts, and Kobe Bryant is the flavour of the month, so he gets
all this (undeserved) buzz.
Roy didn't look A1, you're right, but then his offensive game is still
really inconsistent. He did get a nice purty block though, leading to
a fast break, of course. :) I didn't see him favouring. (On the favouring
note, did you see Barkley visibly LIMPING to the bench during the
all-star player introductions? *gulp* I'm really looking forward to
seeing the Rockets in the playoffs, I sure hope they're all healthy.)
I kind of disagree here, because I think the buzz might be deserved...but
there ARE other players on the court.

It seemed weird to me that he wasn't leaping around in that exciteable way
trying to block everything. It wasn't really an important game, so what
the heck.

He's been worse. Remember that Houston/Phoenix series when he was limping
and running, screwing up his face in pain? Anyway, yes it would be nice
to see the full measure of that team's talent when it gets important.
