Two high-ranking Miami Heat officials told ProBasketballNews.com late
Wednesday that veteran free agent Latrell Sprewell is about to sign with the
team.

The officials refused to allow their names to be used or to be quoted for
this story, other than to say a deal appears to be "just about in place" and
could be completed as early as Friday.

Sprewell, 35, is the lone remaining high-profile free agent. The 6-foot-5
swingman spent the past two seasons with the Minnesota Timberwolves after
five years in New York, where he helped the Knicks become the only No. 8
playoff seed to reach the Finals in 1999. The Timberwolves advanced to the
Western Conference finals in 2004.

Because you can never have too much cancer, I suppose.

Glove, White Choc, Toine and Spree? Jesus, but at least the Christmas
party should be entertaining.

At least Williams looked good in the game I watched - and seems to be just
what the Heat really needed. Payton and Walker didn't do anything and I
can't make any sense out of adding them anyways. Same goes for Sprewell.

And the 2nd choice was to re-sign Quinell Woods...

Riley has sprung a leak. The current roster is already a big gamble;
adding Sprewell to the mix seems ridiculous.

why is that? I don't expect Walker to do too much most of the games
and I know there will be some nights when he wins the Iverson award for
going 2-15. He may have had his best game for the entire season in the
first game. Not a big deal.

Riley is devious. He is bringing Sprewell in to choke Van Gundy.
Once Gundy is in the Hospital, Riley will step in as coach and save the
team!

And Lakers '04. Having adequate talent is necessary to win
championships, but mindlessly stockpiling talent without any thought
towards chemistry is suicide.

White Chocolate.....Laetners been good for Heat, model citizen, and
good role player.
I still don't get what Sprewell add's to the heat, unless as one of the
posters suggests
it's to injure or kill Van Gundy. Otherwise how does he fit in the
rotation, and I'd really like to know what he's being paid, lest his
children have to curb their caloric intake.
