I have been watching these Lakers for years and this current team, like
the championship teams with Shaq, seems to need something to play for.
They cant just destroy a team for the sake of doing it. Well here are a
few things that will give the Lakers that edge.

1. Ring number 10 for Phil.
Their leader wants the 10th...and it will pass who? Red Auerbach of the
Celtics. Who better to beat to pass that milestone and be the
winningest coach in NBA history....

2. Kobe's Dream Season
Kobe wants the triple crown, though he wont say it publicly. He got the
regular season MVP, is on the verge of the NBA championship (and most
likely Finals MVP is they win) and then there is the Olympic Gold
Medal....What a better way to cement his legacy as one of the greatest.
Beat the Celtics, with HIS team, not Shaqs...

3. Garnett
They wanted him, Kobe called him, he was in Malibu right before the
trade went down and everyone thought it was a done deal that he would be
a Laker. Then his actions spoke volumes. He doesnt want to play with
Kobe. He wants to win a ring, and was saying that he has a better
chance to win in Boston than in LA. Kobe wont forget that easily. You
know it still hurts to know that he was that close to having Garnett for
the season. I think he got an even better deal...Gasol and he got to
keep Odom, who again the T Wolves said they had NO interest in. Odom
will make them pay for that.

4. The Bench
There is ALOT of pride on that Laker Bench and they got blasted during
the season. That wont happen again. Farmar will have a breakout
series, and Sasha will have matured into the new Peja, except CLUTCH.

5. Ray Allen
Dont think Kobe forgot what Ray Ray said last season about the Lakers
needing more talent to win the championship....well they replaced one
guy basically....so Kobe wants to make Ray Ray accountable for those
thoughts.

Just my thoughts on why this one means more than any of the other
ones.....

3.5 McHale
This would be the second time he shoots his employer in the foot
to resist helping the Lakers. He did what he could to set his
old team up for a championship. The Lakers winning ANYWAY would
be sweet.

He threw a little holier-than-thou fuel on Kobe's fire. The
best thing is, the way Ray is playing, Kobe might not even have
to guard him. Sasha or Ariza could chase him through screens
while Kobe deals with Pierce.

You don't think the Celts have a chip too? Allen, Pierce, and Garnett
have never won a title. If that is not a chip on their shoulders,
especially near the end of their careers...

This remark shows you don't know a lot about Kobe.

Kobe will be extremely hungry and play with desperation. But as a
team, will the Lakers play the same way? Or will they feel satisfied
and think this will be the first of many opportunities and end up
playing that way?

This will be important because for Boston, there's no question they
will play with that sense of desperation. They know this could be
their best (or only) shot.

Well shit, I guess Kobe needs to play the Celtics by himself since
he has all of these "personal grudges" that he needs to resolve.

Did he ever resolve his "personal grudges" with Shaq, or the girl
in Eagle Colorado?

Again, you misunderstand Kobe...with Mamba, it's usually not personal at
all. He simply wants to win, and not only that, he wants to crush his
opponent, beat them so badly that they agree never to speak of it again.
There's been two great articles posted in here recently on Kobe, you should
read them and edumicate yourself.

Of course, then again, any further edumication for you may not be feasible.

not *me*.

And your use of the "words" "edumicate" and "edumication" is just
priceless when it comes to education. lol

You forgot Kobe "Bean" Bryant vs. "Beantown"
That smelly clam chowder cesspool coopted his middle name.
