No major independent candidate.
November:
McCain moves to the center. Hillary moves to the right(beginning with
her Veep choice). US elects it's ugliest President, John McCain.
Democrats gain seats in Senate & House & Governorships.
I move to Japan.

A very civilized society...when one of their leaders royally screws up...he
kills himself...

Would love to join you. What prefecture?
Alright!
My wife's, I think. Kumamoto. Best food and prettiest girls in the
world. :-)
hikkoshimashou! :-)
Anata ni mo! (For a moment, I thought you wrote "hanashimashou".) :-)
One of the many wonderful things about Kumamoto(and pretty much all of
Kyushu) is that it's in no way international. (As I'm sure you know.)
So I have no idea what I would do there. My Japanese is sorta "baby
Japanese" and even my 3-year-old Saya is starting to wonder.
But let's hope McCain or Hillary doesn't get it. Frankly, I'm still
hoping for Fidel to declare.
How come no one's voting in the poll!
Really. My father-in-law says that Abe came very close to doing just
that over the summer.
Would be very tough to feel at home there without either an
international situation (as one can find in Tokyo), or without
being fluent (or at least highly competent) in the language.

We'd have to hope that Fukuda-san (current Japan prime minister) is
more palatable than whoever we elect for president. The Chinese
and Koreans are not terribly fond of the Japanese these days; hopefully
that will start to change as WW II fades further from memory.
