So far I don't see a whole lot. Sure an athletic, bigger PG. Upgrade
over what we have now? Not so much yet. Maybe next season, we'll
see. He needs to develop a better shot.

He's a dude with skills we can use and he's a guy we didn't have a few
months ago. Gives us more options, more depth, win-win..

To be fair, size and athleticism are his biggest assets ... and
bouncing around between 4 teams in 3 years he hasn't exactly set the
league on fire.

But he is *really* athletic and seems to be capable of the kind of
game-changing plays that Ariza occasionally pulls off. I think they
seem to like his defense, the triangle could work for him, and the
coaching he gets with the Lakers could help him grow into a solid
contributor.

that good, why has he not caught on with another team? I don't see

He's shooting 37.8% from three-point range this season (66.7% with the
Lakers). Small sample size, but encouraging.

"More options" is the biggest part, in my opinion. Harder for guys
like Williams and Billups to bully him than the smaller guys.

I am not "blinded by" them, I am ecstatic by Brown being given a chance
precisely *because* of them.

I don't think Shannon Brown is a special player, but as far as immediate
need for this title run, he seems to be an immediate upgrade at the team's
point of greatest weakness -- PG defense.

Lots of players bounce around a bit before catching on to be a good role
player on a contender. Delonte West is a good example of this. I'm less
interested in what others did or did not see in him than in what he can give
now. Right now, he's really helping the team and as long as he stays within
himself he should continue to do so.

Upgrade over Farmar at a time when we really need it. Not a long term
solution, but maybe a useful part for a while if cheap.
