Signed a 5 year, $47 million dollar contract at the 11th hour (of the

Less than six hours to go. ARE YOU READY Bulls fan...By the way, the
talking heads on NBA TV said the Bulls are the third or fourth best
team in the East BEHIND Miami, Detroit and Cleveland.

Me neither. Mid market team that can't afford the side-kick or all the
right role players. James will eventually get pissed and split for a
Nike approved market.

The ESPN.com season preview is split about evenly between Experts who
say we'll be either second or third in the Central (third or fifth in
the East).

It also helpfully reminds readers that Scoop Jackson is a contemptible
little man (no, absolutely, let's use 'BW3' as a nickname for Ben
Wallace, because nothing says 'winner' like a shitty suburban buffalo
wing joint), and serves notice that bloggers are no longer students the
battle for control of the bland sportswriting platitude; they are the
masters.

Oh absolutely. I was taking $50 million-plus as a given. The article
notes that it's in Boris Diaw's range; charitably, they don't note how
much more Jamal is getting paid. This is a terrific contract and it's
cause for optimism about the slew of contracts this summer.

It's almost a shame that we got the deal done, though - it was kind of
funny watching Milwaukee circle around him.
