Pittsburgh's GM should be run out of town. Lastings and Hanrahan for
Nyjer Morgan and Middle reliever Sean Burnett.
Nyjer is .278 (2nd best OF on our team) with 18 SB
Burnett has appeared in 38 games and has a 3.02 ERA.

Pittsburgh seems all happy with this deal, just like DC. However,
according to their main blogger it's just defence and luck both ways,
something the Nats do not have.....
"Morgan has become a great defensive outfielder, but that's really all
there is to recommend him. And Burnett has posted dismal strikeout and walk
numbers for about half a decade now; that he has an ERA around three right
now owes to the Pirates' defense and plain luck. Hanrahan has struggled this
year, but he was a horse last year, he strikes batters out, and he has very
good stuff. He also has an incredible .451 batting average on balls in play
this year, which basically means you can dismiss that high ERA, because luck
and/or the Nats' defense has simply killed him."
It seems to me to be merely getting rid of Lasto with the bonus of dumping
Hanrahan for PR purposes. I doubt the new pitcher will be any better, and
we've seen no-hit gloves in the OF before.
Morgan is a great clubhouse guy, though. Maybe they should just televise
the great times playing cards and such with the happy group of guys....

I'll take it, no Hanrahan? wow, great. Milledge was not, and never will
be a major league OF
Pittsburgh's GM is channeling Jim Bowden.

Some commenter at NJ mentioned Lasto got into it with a minor league coach.
I didn't think being sent down was going to change his attitude for the
positive, and it didn't.
I do expect Hanrahan to respond better, without the nooses that the FO
seemed to think would be a good motivator early in the season, and Manny
making the calls.
Has to be Tim Foli.

Lastings said he didn't follow the Nats or listen to the coaches since
he had to look out for himself.

I believe Pittsburgh plans on returning him to the starter role. I wish
Hanrahan luck.

That would be a good guess. Bad cop strategy didn't work on the
hardheaded Mr. Milledge.

You know, this is a classic case of bringing up kids too soon, without
them having to earn it in the minors and appreciating the chance.

I suppose it's just try one thing, then try the other for all the
teams....
Sometimes Less Is More. For the Nats to get anything at all for these
2 bums is all gravy.
Wow, that Milledge for Church and Schneider deal is looking like one
of the all-time one-sided deals.
Re that .451 average: no, that means that he has been getting
absolutely crushed, all year.
