pitchers, other than the new "closer", finding a true alternative defensive
2B is more likely than an upgrade over Desmond or Guz at SS. I think Hudson
is a bad gamble, and would prefer Ian at SS, despite the FO's opinion he
needs more seasoning in AAA. At some point, Guz will make the decision for
them......either adequate for the rest of the year, or Kearns' spot by the
cooler...

We need Guz's bat in the lineup, but there is no upside for him to
switch to 2b. This is his last year in a contract. If switching to 2nd
doesn't work or if the extra IF work hurts his batting, then he's
screwed next season. Add his pride into the mix and I think he'll be
the starting ss. I'd lean towards giving 2b to Morse.

Desmond's fielding in September was as bad as his hitting was good.
Everything to the right side of 3B could be a real disaster next year
if they do this.
