Congratulations to Molina and Wainwright!
Some thought Piniero might win the award. Piniero is also good on
defense.
Wainwright is the first Cardinal pitcher to win a Gold Glove since
Joaquin Andujar won the award in 1984.
Wainwright had a good chance to achieve another great feat Joaquin
accomplished in 1984: 20 wins. Wainwright left his final game of the
regular season with a 6-1 lead. Unfortunately, La Russa and the
bullpen blew the lead, so he finished with 19 wins.
