Do you have any insight into what kind of contract DeRosa wants? He slugged
.433 and had an OPS+ of 99 in '09. Not much for an everyday third baseman.

Sorry, I have no idea about his contract. The local sports nitwits
can't talk about anyone but Holliday. I'm sure if you asked someone
like Frank Cusumano of KSDK-TV or Joe Strauss of the Post-Dispatch who
Mark DeRosa is, they would say, "Who?"

He was injured right after the trade and I'm sure it affected his
swing.

I'd still take him over Freese.

I'm not against signing DeRosa, but not for more than a couple years.
DeRosa's 34 already. I agree that he is preferable to Freese, who I don't
see as the everyday 3B either.

Mr. Freese is at a crossroads in his life. He has been very lucky that he's
only hurt himself up to this point, and he'd better learn his lesson. The
team should order him to get help, and he should be on a zero-tolerance
policy now. I've never understood how people with so much money can get
plastered and not have someone, or a cab, take them home. I guess you can
drink to the point where you're simply not thinking at all.

I'd like to see them release Freese and look beyond deRosa, for whom I
just don't have a lot of enthusiasm. On another front, if they don't
sign Holliday, they already plan to use deRosa in LF.
