Well, that looks pretty bad for Posey on the surface, but I think
everyone will be completely shocked when they see these stats:
Man on 2B: Posey 7 AB, Arroyo 10 AB
Man on 3B: Posey 5 AB, Arroyo 2 AB
Men on 1B & 3B: Posey 2 AB, Arroyo 3 AB
Men on 2B & 3B: Posey 0 AB, Arroyo 1 AB
Bases loaded: Posey 1 AB, Arroyo 3 AB
RISP situations: Posey 24 AB, Arroyo 20 AB
Shocking, huh?! Despite playing nearly one month more than Arroyo,
Posey had 0 AB with men on 2B & 3B, and *1* freakin AB with bases
loaded all season! Arroyo had more AB on both! And you already
know how often runners don't score from 2B on Posey's singles. Not
sure about Arroyo.
Oh, there's more!
2 outs, RISP: Posey .286, Arroyo .143 BA
Arroyo had a total of *1* hit in such situations. Not nearly as
clutch as you think.
Late & close: Posey .333 BA, Arroyo .280 BA
Did your jaw hit the floor yet? :-D
Of course, Arroyo had a couple of big memorable hits which are what
stuck in our minds; Posey is usually walked in such situations and
was on base for Arroyo in those situations.
Arroyo is batting behind a guy with a .441 OBP. He *should* be
getting plenty of RBIs. :-)
> Its pathetic the leader(Belt) has only 18.
That's what happens when the whole team stuggles. Hitting is
contagious. With a good offense, hits and runs are easy to come by,
and everyone is more relaxed, so even the lesser players come
through more often. With a bad offense, everyone presses more, RISP
situations are harder to come by, so when they happen, the hitters
felt they have to come through.
