Know what? I don't have a sympathetic bone in my body for this woman.
Drunken, moron A's fans (of the Raiders type) who bought seats behind the
dugout for the express purpose of making life miserable for the opposing
team. I've read that the abuse they heaped on the Rangers was unspeakable,
and got worse as they got drunker.
Somebody, somewhere, has to send a message that buying a ticket to a
baseball game does not give one the right to commit mayhem against the
players on the opposing team. If you said the things these people said to
the Rangers players in public, you'd be liable for a lawsuit yourself. I
hope the judge throws it out of court.

Somebody, somewhere, has to send a message that being on a major league
field does not give one the right to commit mayhem against the paying
customers.

What things did the woman say exactly to merit getting hit with a chair?
Greg Lentz
I have sympathy for her, she is hideous looking. Are all A's fans that
ugly?

On the other hand, why would someone have the right to throw a chair at a
customer that did not lay a hand on them? The biggest problem here was
security? If you are going to let people drink and sit within 20-40ft of
players then you have to pay security to protect both customers and players.
Only the closet Giant fans that got priced out when their team made the
move from Candlestick.

What did she do other than showing poor judgment in the man she married?
By the accounts, she did not participate in the verbal abuse of the
players.

The definition of mayhem is malicious injury that disfigures or disables
a person. The fans weren't doing this; if they had, they'd have been
arrested.
I don't think that fans should spent their time at the ballpark berating
opposing players (and I do think that something should be done to curb
that like ejecting abusive patrons), but to equate verbal abuse with
mayhem is ridiculous.

Then there'd millions of lawsuits and our judicial system would stop
from the workload.

The judge won't and shouldn't. Throwing objects at innocent people
without regard to who gets hit is stupid, criminal, and worthy of
punishment.
Jim
Short of self defence against a woman who is yielding a deadly weapon, there
is never any excuse to hit a women - or anyone for that matter.
Elaichs statements are scary to say the least :-/
Hmmm............... why is it I feel the uncontrollable urge to sing Cyndi
Laupers hit "True Colors"??
Really her husband has 1/2 the blame in this incident as well ..as he was
taunting the players .. was it justified .. no, but the ball players did not
just go out and start smashing people, there was extenuating circumstances.
And where was the husband when the chair was being swung .. probably ducking
out of the way .. what a big mouth chump he was.

The player in question needs some anger management course and the woman
could probably do with some alcohol rehab! Neither have a "right" to behave
as they did, but the player had no excuse to throw a chair.
Really?? Well then this is a sorry state of affairs. Did he actually intend
to hit her? Of was he "aiming" for the husband? Not that it makes the
situation any better, just different.

I remember watching one game last year, cant even remember who it was
against but there was this one guy behind home plate who boomed in a deep
loud voice whenever Bonds came up to hit. I remember thinking what an idiot
and pitying the woman he was with. Then the commentators showed the guy in
close up and said he was a LAWYER!!! LOL. He never got up from his seat
whilst berating Bonds, wasnt racist, rude nor did he swear etc He just sat
there calmly booming his insults! I laughed thinking that this was probably
the guys "outlet" :-) Now if Bonds or anyone retaliated it would have been
totally unjustified.

I hope the judge throws the chair...... ooops I mean book at him ;-)
I fail to see how what she looked like before the incident should have any
bearing on anything.

The player in question probably hits his own wife for less.
> And where was the husband when the chair was being swung .. probably
ducking

Yep probably, men are such cowards ;-)
As I recall, the real idiot in the stands was her husband. I think the wife
really was a relatively innocent bystander. I notice her jackass of a
husband was not at the news conference yesterday.
rb
Ragging on the player is one thing, but even though her husband was
drunk,
he didn't threaten the Ranger pitchers in the bullpen. Even at that, she
wasn't the instigator for this fight, so what exactly did she deserve?
Aside from all of that, that bandage did help her looks. :)
A night out with Elaich? ;-)
Thing is, she wasn't the target of the attack. Chairs are not easily
thrown articles and Francisco was likely aiming at her dumbass of a
husband.
No you can't! It's in the public domain and nobody forced you to look
at it.
Matter of fact, I posted it as "Scary picture" so you have only yourself
to
blame for what you saw. If it crushed your libido, there's always
baseball
to blot out that horrid image. :)
Here's how I see it. Francisco, rightly offended but not using good
judgement, picks up the chair. As he turns with the chair in hand
and whirls around to toss it at her husband, sees his wife and is
so shocked that he prematurely releases the chair and hits her by
accident.
Very few fans.....

Would be something you've never experienced in your life, since you need 3
men and still aren't happy.
Which makes the player in question even more of an arse for lashing out as
he did. In such a confined area he must have been aware of the difficulty in
ensuring he hit his "target", obviously his view was tainted by aggression,
even more reason he needs anger management.
Not sure why I am bothering responding as you have me kilfiled anyway. And
even less sure why I need to explain myself to you, other than to show you
to be the arse and idiot you are -
1) Don't sleep with my husband - haven't for 5 years - hence the
separation - DUH!
2) Boyfriend isn't local - too far away - phone is useful, but not quite the
same thing (and he is aware of both my husband and my lover)
3) Lover is local and Goooooood!! he is aware of my husband and my
boyfriend - I keep no secrets from them (only from soon to be ex husband).
So technically I am not having 3 men at once (though I am not saying that
hasn't happened).
Don't judge me til you have walked a mile in my shoes.
Oh and BTW I doubt I am missing very much at all!

If it's criminal, there should be a criminal prosecution.
ACK! My god, that's a scary picture! She looks like she could take on a
baseball player and beat the sh&$ out of him!
And that hair. Someone has got to tell her to get a makeover, complete
with plastic surgery.
Martha
How did you know? :-)
She won't wash that hair, or take the bandage off before the judges
awards
her a nice settlement on her lawsuit.
You guys are pretty fucked up, for posting insults directed at someone who
got her nose broken by an athlete throwing a chair.
Where are you pretty pictures, assfucks?
I guess Australia has white trash too.

Verbal taunting is NOT an extenuating circumstance.
HTH.

Maybe she had bad breath too? ;-)
Only 1/2 the blame? Here's the 2 scenarios:
1) The husband is mentally disturbed from having such an ugly wife, and
he needed to vent off at players in ballparks as an outlet. He felt he
was the real victim.
2) This was really the husband's master plan to kill his ugly wife
without doing it himself. He was successful in taunting the players but
over-estimated the player's strength. Oh, and he worships Scott
Peterson.
OK, fine, bad jokes...
Are we assuming that he's a handsome hunk? I'll bet the hubby is as
butt fugly as wifey.

Oh, I know that. I'm just exposing elaich's lack of understanding of the
situation. But even her husband saying stupid things doesn't merit a
chair being thrown.
Greg Lentz
Which brings up a good question? Is there a criminal prosecution and if
not, why the hell not?
Greg Lentz
The one thing that bugs me with this type of lawsuit, is the money the
plaintiff tries to wring out of the defendants for "emotional
duress".
---
In the article, the following is written:
Jennifer Bueno said she has physically recovered from her injury,
pointing to a small scar on the bridge of her nose, but said she is
still affected emotionally by the incident.
"It's something that's going to stay with me for the rest of my life,"
Bueno said. "I never thought that I'd have to go to a game and be
fearful for players attacking me, but nobody can say that won't happen,
because we know now it can."
Bueno said she has not attended any baseball games since then and did
not anticipate going to any soon. She also said she is "apprehensive
and scared" of confrontations at her children's games.
---
Oh please! She is "apprehensive and scared" of confrontations at her
children's games??? Maybe if she attends the games with her loud mouth
husband she should be. But that's not the Ranger's fault.
I think she has every right to sue the Texas Rangers and the security
company for compensation for the physical injuries she suffered by
being hit by the chair (including loss of wages if she had to miss
work). But the long-term emotionally injured stuff is pure B.S. and I
hope the jury doesn't reward her even one penny for her emotional
sufferings.
- Peter
Yes, there is.
The article states "The criminal trial against Francisco is still
pending, and was postponed Thursday by the judge until June 2."
- Peter
Thanks. To be honest, I didn't bother reading the article.
Greg Lentz
Agreed.
Greg Lentz
She's laying it on thick to get as much in her settlement as she
can milk out of the A's, Rangers and anyone else included in the
suit.
