http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/sports/MLB-to-Decide-on-As-Move-to-San-Jose-Soon-134322428.html

It's been rumors and discussed for years, but the Oakland As may be
moving to San Jose. A decision could come down in January.

Per MLB territories, the San Francisco Giants currently "own" San
Jose.

But with the As voting for a recent ownership change for their cross-
bay rival, it's expected that the Giants would vote in favor of their
relocation.

It's been a long saga of finding land in/around downtown SJ for a ball
park (one parcel they're looking at is literally across the street
from the Tank). There has been a lot of wrangling and politicking from/
in the SJ city government (to MLB et al) to get this move to happen.

Other nearby cities have also courted the As, including Fremont, but
it looks like SJ is willing to give them the best deal.

How will this effect the Sharks?

Well, some sponsors may opt to reduce to change to the As. But some
disenfranchised As sponsors could jump ship to the Sharks (or Giants).

There is also some concern about coordination of events (so you don't
have a baseball game letting out while folks are arriving to the
hockey game as there is shared parking, etc.).

Will be interesting to see how this develops (as they say now that the
McCourt/Dodgers has a resolution in sight and there's a new labor
agreement, Selig can concentrate on this).
