According to ESPN sources, it's only a one year deal with a base salary $7.5
million and $1.5 million in performance incentives.

I thought the Giants weren't going sign Penny because he was seeking a
multi-year contract. But for one year, shouldn't the Giants had pursued
Penny re-signing with more vigor?

I'm thinking maybe he feels (rightly so) that he'll have a better chance of
getting a World Series ring with the Cardinals than the Giants. (At least
he'll get better run support.)
