Harvey Haddix pitched 12 perfect innings against the Milwaukee braves, only
to lose in the bottom of the 13th inning on a Joe Adcock homerun that was
later changed to a double because he passed Henry Aaron on the basepaths.
Del Crandall told me a couple years ago, that Adcock was pretty pissed at
Aaron, and was cussing and swearing up a storm in the clubhouse afterward.
Eddie Mathews finally got in Adcock's face and told him to "shut the F#%&
UP, we won the F#%&ing ballgame". Poor Aaron thought that the ball had
bounced over the fence and therefore thought it was a ground rule double.
Back then County Stadium had two chain link fences and in actuality it had
flown over the first fence and bounced over the second fence.

Two fences? Now there's a real smart design. lol! ...That'll never
happen again though, because a pitcher throwing a complete nine
innings is a rarity these days. I remember back in the early-70's guys
throwing 300 plus innings, some close to damn near 400. Now? They're
lucky if they tally 200 for the year. Wimps! lol!

We likely won't see another 12 inning + perfect game, but complete
games aren't THAT rare. EX: already this year the Angels have 4, Texas
5.
CGs seem to function in relation to how weak your bullpen is.
